Winter's Eve

When the shadows lay low,
And the sun is weary,
And the day is coming onto night,
When white silken snow
Lays heavy on fir branches,
I see you in the winter starlight.
When sunset slips down
Into winter’s frost,
And my footprints fade before they’re seen,
In the cold white quiet
Of the winter moon,
You pass thru me like dawn thru my dreams.
A gentle caress,
Cool breath on my cheek,
And a warm hand upon my heart.
The hushed touch of what
Words can’t say,
And the whisper of my name in the dark.
