Alone
In the dusty cool of the night sky,
One lone star in the galactic swirl of the Milky Way.
A shadow on the horizon that eclipses
Starlight, thousands, even millions of miles away.
Distant lives revolve all around me,
But I am on a crash course with the sun,
Destined to burn up in some forgotten galaxy
That other celestial entities shy away from.
I never dreamed such desolation in the dark,
Or an aching that could chill so deep to the bone.
I never knew such solitude of the soul existed,
I never imagined I could feel so completely alone.
