Do not pray for easy lives;
pray to be stronger.....
Do not pray for tasks
equal to your powers;
pray for powers
equal to your tasks.

Then the doing of your work
shall be no miracle,
but you shall be a miracle.
Every day you shall
wonder at yourself,
at the richness of
life which has
come to you by
the grace of God.

"AM I YOUR FRIEND"
If I were going by your house late at night, and I saw that there were flames coming out of the roof what would you want me to do? Lets say that you are sleeping and are so comfortable in your bed, maybe I am afraid to disturb you because you might be offended if I woke you up. So many decisions I have to make now. If I am really your friend I have to tell you what I see and warn you of the danger of the flames. If I don't, well then, that will show you that I don't care. Now I am your friend, and I really care, so I run up to the door and start beating on it and ringing the doorbell, I even have my cell phone in hand and I am calling your phone number.

You answer the door with your phone in your hand and say, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" You still have not seen the flames that I have so you are mad at me for bothering you and your family in your time of peace. Until you see and understand what I am doing this for you think I have lost my mind. Suddenly you see the flames and smell the smoke. Wow, now your attitude toward me and what I have been trying to tell you changes. Now you are thankful that I am your friend and I am glad that I was able to help you by saving your life, just by telling you the truth.

This is much like the gospel of Jesus Christ. If I did not tell you that if you don't ask him into your heart before you die then you will burn for eternity in Hell. I love you enough to let you know, Jesus saves and it is so simple to accept his gift of eternal life in peace and joy with him. Now if I tell you and you still don't listen and reject the offer of safety, then it is on you, not me for not letting you know. Please don't wait until a fire has burned down your friend's house and it is to late.
- Roger Herrick

"Contest"
Jesus and Satan have an argument as to who is the better programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God as the judge. They set themselves before their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen, for several hours straight. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over. He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset, and cries, "I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out. "Very well, then," says God, "let us see if Jesus fared any better" Jesus enters a command, and the screen comes to life in vivid display, the voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers. Satan is astonished. He stutters, "B-b-but how?! I lost everything, yet Jesus' program is intact! How did he do it? "God chuckles, "Everybody knows... Jesus Saves!!!

"Gonna Make A Change, I am!!"

A change in life I'm going to make
When I have time to spare
My ways of old I shall forsake,
A new attitude I shall bear.

I must take time to visit the widow
The one who lives next door
The one who sits and stares out the window
The one who is lonely and poor.

The needs of others I will put before mine
A generous person, I'm going to be
I'm going to do it, I need some spare time
Just you wait and see.

There are some people I need to forgive
To make amends I soon need to do
A good life I'm going to live
My chores are many, the hours few.

My daily prayers I forget to say
My Bible is all covered with dust
But I'll get to it one of these days
A change to make I must.

In the midst of all these plans, a voice fell on my ears
"This talk of change is a reverie and has been through the years.
You have not chosen to make this change, but only to procrastinate
Yesterday's gone, tomorrow's not promised, it soon will be too late."

"The days and months which are given
Are not to call your own
But are granted from Me for spiritual living
And to make my Gospel known."

"Plant seeds of faith here and there
Your priorities you must rearrange
The gifts you've been given, you must share
The time is now to change."

"TRAVELING ON YOUR KNEES"

Last night I took a journey
To a land across the seas.
I didn't go by ship or plane
I traveled on my knees.

I saw so many people there
In bondage to their sin,
And Jesus told me I should go,

That there were souls to win.

But I said, "Jesus, I can't go
To lands across the seas."
He answered quickly, "Yes, you can
By traveling on your knees."

He said, You pray, I'll meet the need.
You call, and I will hear.
It's up to you to be concerned
For lost souls far and near."

And so I did; knelt in prayer,
Gave up some hours of ease,
And with the Savior by my side
I traveled on my knees.

As I prayed on, I saw souls saved
And twisted persons healed,
I saw God's workers' strength renewed
While laboring on the field.

I said, "Yes Lord, I'll take the job.
Your heart I want to please.
I'll heed your call and swiftly go
By traveling on my knees."

"A Simple Life"

Satan called a worldwide convention. In his opening address to his evil angels, he said, "We can't keep the Christians from going to church. We can't keep then from reading their Bibles & knowing the truth. We can't even keep them from conservative values. But we can do something else. We can keep them from forming an intimate, abiding experience in Christ. If they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken. So let them go to church, let them have their conservative lifestyles, but steal their time, so they can't gain that experience in Jesus Christ. This is what I want you to do, angels. Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior & maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!" "How shall we do this?", shouted his angels. "Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life & invent un-numbered schemes to occupy their minds," he answered. "Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, then, borrow, borrow, borrow. Convince the wives to go to work & the husbands to work 6 or 7 days a week, 10-12 hrs. a day, so they can afford their lifestyles. Keep them from spending time with their children. As their family fragments, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work." "Over stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still small voice. Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive, to keep the TV, the VCR, & their CD's going constantly in their homes. And see to it that every store & restaurant in the world plays music constantly. This will jam their minds & break that union with Christ." "Fill their coffee tables with magazines & newspapers. Pound their minds with the news 24 hrs. a day. Invade their driving moments with billboards. Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, sweepstakes, mail order catalogues, & every kind of newsletter & promotional offering, free products, services, & false hopes." "Even in their recreation, let them be excessive. Have them return from their recreation exhausted, disquieted & unprepared for the coming week. Don't let them go out in nature. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, concerts & movies instead. And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip & small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences & unsettled emotion." "Let them be involved in soul winning. But crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Christ. Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health & family unity for the good of the cause." It was quite a convention in the end. And the evil angels went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busy, busy, busy and rush here and there. Has the devil been successful at his scheme?......You be the judge.

"And God said...No"

I asked God to take away my PRIDE, and God said, "No." He said it was not for him to take away, but for me to give up. I asked God to make my handicapped child WHOLE, and God said, "No." He said her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary. I asked God to grant me PATIENCE, and God said, "No." He said patience is a by-product of tribulations. It isn't granted, it is earned. I asked God to give me HAPPINESS, and God said, "No." He said he gives me blessings, happiness is up to me. I asked God to spare me PAIN, and God said, "No." He said suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me. I asked God to make my SPIRIT grow, and God said, "No." He said I must grow on my own. But he will prune me to make me fruitful. I asked for all things that I might enjoy LIFE, and God said, "No." He said I will Give you life, that you may enjoy all things. I asked God to help me LOVE others as much as he loves me, and God said, "Ah, finally you have the idea."- Lia Brown (Inspirational submitted by: Andrea M. Davis)

Perfect Little Angel"

I had offered to watch my 3-year-old daughter,
Ramanda, so that my wife could go out with a
friend. I was getting some work done while
Ramanda appeared to be having a good time in
the other room. No problem, I figured. But
then it got a little too quiet and I yelled
out, "What are you doing, Ramanda?" No response.
I repeated my question and heard her say,
"Oh...nothing." Nothing? What does "nothing"
mean? I got up from my desk and ran out into the
living room, whereupon I saw her take off down
the hall. I chased her up the stairs and watched
her as her little behind made a hard left into
the bedroom. I was gaining on her! She took off
for the bathroom. Bad move. I had her cornered.
I told her to turn around. She refused. I pulled
out my big, mean, authoritative Daddy voice,
"Young lady, I said turn around!"Slowly, she
turned toward me. In her hand was what was left
of my wife's new lipstick. And every square inch
of her face was covered with bright red (except
her lips of course)! As she looked up at me with
fearful eyes, lips trembling, I heard every voice
that had been shouted to me as a child. "How could
you...You should know better than that...How many
times have you been told...What a bad thing to
do..." It was just a matter of my picking out
which old message I was going to use on her so
that she would know what a bad girl she had
been. But before I could let loose, I looked
down at the sweatshirt my wife had put on her
only an hour before. In big letters it said,

"I'M A PERFECT LITTLE ANGEL!"
I looked back up into her tearful eyes and
instead of seeing a bad girl who didn't listen,
I saw a child of God...a perfect little angel
full of worth, value and a wonderful spontaneity
that I had come dangerously close to shaming
out of her."Sweetheart, you look beautiful!
Let's take a picture so Mommy can see how
special you look." I took the picture and thanked
God that I didn't miss the opportunity to reaffirm
what a perfect little angel He had given me.

"IF JESUS CAME TO YOUR HOUSE"

If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two,
If he came unexpectedly, I wonder what you'd do.

Oh, I know you'd give your nicest room to such an honored guest,
And all the food you'd serve to him would be the very best,

And you would keep assuring him you're glad to have him there,
That serving him in your own home is joy beyond compare.

But, when you saw him coming, would you meet him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your heavenly visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they'd been?

Would you turn off the radio and hope he hadn't heard?
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?

And I wonder, if the Savior spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?

Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?

Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read,
And let him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go?
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have him meet your very closest friends?
Or would you hope they'd stay away until his visit ends?

Would you be glad to have him stay forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when at last he was gone?

It might be interesting to know the things that you would do
If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

Why JESUS is Better Than Santa Claus

Santa lives at the North Pole ...
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh ...
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year ...
JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies ...
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited ...
JESUS stands at your door and knocks,
and then enters your heart when invited.
You have to wait in line to see Santa ...
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap ...
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is
"Hi little boy (or girl,) what's your name?" ...
JESUS knew our name before we did.
Not only
does He know our name, He knows our
address too. He knows our history and
future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly ...
JESUS has a heart full of love.
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ...
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry" ...
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I
care for you."
Santa's little helpers make toys ...
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts,
repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa is a "jolly old elf"
JESUS is the King of Kings
Santa may make you chuckle but ...
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree ...
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.
It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas,
JESUS is still the reason for the season.
Yes, JESUS is better, he is even better than Santa Claus.
