Margin: Exploring Modern Magical Realism

W E L C O M E
Stories of Magical Realism
o u r   m i s s i o n

ULTIMATELY, THE goal of Margin's fiction department is to create a resting place

for contemporary stories of magical realism. These might be considered misfit

works otherwise: stories which aren't fantastical enough to be fantasy; stories

which aren't straight enough to be mainstream; stories which are, perhaps,

too slippery (in a realistic sense) to fall under the literary fiction wing with

any ease. I hope that visitors to this perpetual anthology will leave with a

richer understanding of magical realism, and that they enjoy and remember

the works published herein. For the authors and for students of literature,

I hope this site will be a launching point for further inquiry. Most of all, I hope

it serves as a fair dedication to a complex and beautiful literary form.
