FOR WRITERS ONLY

We at Margin recognize that finding homes for magical realist writing can be challenging. Is your work literary? Mainstream? Genre? For Writers Only regularly highlights markets which have published magical realist writing.

We ask that you study publisher's guidelines very closely before submitting, and that you honor them to the letter. It helps to review sample copies of the magazine first, or to read samples of work online, when available. Studying your markets is one of the most effective ways to find homes for your work.

We wish all writers of magical realism the best of luck with their publishing goals.—TKS, Margin

From the website: "This annual open call is for a speculative fiction imprint that publishes science fiction, fantasy, horror, alternate history, magic realism, or anything in-between. If it can be shelved in the Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror section of your local bookstore, we want it! We're interested both in the first book in a trilogy or longer series as well as stand-alone stories.

"We are looking for the best, most original ideas as well as compelling writing. We'll consider any style and subject matter. Please be aware, though, that what will count most for us is your ability to tell an exciting, original story in prose that makes us want to keep turning the pages."

From the website: "Reflection's Edge, the e-zine for thoughtful readers and writers, is a monthly online publication with two major aims: to house good fiction, and to help writers improve their writing. The focus of the fiction section of RE is on marginalized fiction—genre fiction which many 'literary magazines' do not accept (i.e., sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mystery, the supernatural, westerns, adventure, magical realism, erotica [not pornography], fables, non-mainstream fiction).… our focus is excellence in writing."
