Service Ethic:
At the core of my individual services is this singular ethic, that I will help when and where I can. It's important to note here that I will PASS on clients who have work I don't feel I am qualified or inclined to work with, as I only take on work when I know I can offer a quality service. I do prefer working with some kinds of work over others. For fiction, my particular interests reside in literary writing, experimental writing, writing which transcends the boundaries of category and the genres of soft science fiction, speculative writing, contemporary fantasy and magical realism. Of nonfiction, I enjoy working with food writing, literary essays, personal essays and memoir writing. I do not handle poetry or genre work outside the realm of science fiction and fantasy. Unsure where your manuscript fits? Feel free to ask! Due to some personal writing projects and coaching certification, I will not be offering editorial services until late 2009.
WELCOME TO CREATIVE TRAINER!
This service is designed to rejuvenate writers who have fallen into poor writing habits or need to add structure and accountability to their regular schedules. It's also useful for writers working on single, long-term projects where guidance throughout the project would be of added benefit.Creative Trainer gives participants weekly half-hour process consultations for advice, support, feedback and direction either by phone, teleconference or IRL meeting*; this weekly accountability to a new writing plan (either for a specific project or to jumpstart flagging habits) puts writers back in charge of their goals.
Note: This service is especially useful for and tailored to the needs of time-strapped writers, people who live in places lacking writing communities or which are otherwise remote during the winter, stay-home parents and the self-employed.
Writers are required to sign up for a minimum of 2 months of this service to experience maximum benefit. Service includes one free 1-hour teleconferenced pre-training session.
*IRL ("live") meetings available for Kitsap County residents only.
