SSH 3E was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 3 (then US 410, now US 12) in Walla Walla and headed north to Jct SSH 3D (now SR 124) just west of Prescott, then east via Prescott to Jct PSH 3 (then US 410, now US 12) in Waitsburg. SSH 3E from Walla Walla to the junction west of Prescott is now part of SR 125 and from SR 125 to Waitsburg, part of SR 124.
