Meier & Frank

Westfield Shoppingtown Vancouver (Vancouver Mall) - Vancouver, WA

Phase 1 of Vancouver Mall opened in 1977. This phase included Meier & Frank on the west end, Sears on the south side of the east end, and Nordstrom on the north side of the mall between Meier & Frank and Nordstrom. Phase 2 opened in 1979 with an easterly extension from Sears to JC Penney. The first Mervyn's store in Washington State opened in 1981 along the north side of Phase 2 between Sears and JC Penney. Vancouver Mall is now known as Westfield Shoppingtown Vancouver.

This is the only Meier & Frank store ever built in Washington State. The Mervyn's store was built on the site of what was to have been a Lippmans. Dayton's, later Dayton Hudson, now Target Corporation, had purchased the Portland based Lippman chain in the mid 1960s. Before the Vancouver Mall Lippman store could be built, Dayton Hudson had sold Lippmans and had expanded Mervyn's into the Portland area.

The photo was taken in April 2005.
