Watching the news last night it seemed that all of America was "Heading for the lake" to celebrate the Fourth of July and beat the heat. Sounded like a good plan to me, so I got up early Thursday morning and headed for Ingalls Lake.

Here's a photo from my hike to Ingalls Lake last year. Ingalls Lake sits between Mt.Stuart and Ingalls Peak.

Things sure looked different this year!

Yep ... that's what it is ... MORE SNOW! I don't think summer will ever arrive in the Cascades. As I hiked to Ingalls pass a 15 minute 4th of July flury dusted everything with the white stuff.

It didn't take too long for the new snow to disappear once the sun came out and the breeze started to blow.

Almost to Ingalls lake! That's Ingalls Peak in the distance. The lake sits in a rock bowl at the bottom of the peak. As soon as I get to those small shrubs ahead, it will just be a few more steps and I'll be frolicking in a lake like the rest of America.

&$@! ... so much for that plan!

That's Mt. Stuart on the right.
