Lodge 11 gets back to business after August picnic

by MICKEY BREZNIKAR
Lodge 11 Recording Secretary

AUBURN, Wash. - Greater Northwest Lodge 11 members hosted an interesting meeting in August as we finalized plans for our annual Lake 12 picnic. A work party was scheduled for Aug. 4. We arranged to have the Puget Sound Button Box Group perform as our featured band for the event. A jam session was scheduled during the group's break.

We want to offer our thanks [to] Dorothy Sleigh, president of Enumclaw, Wash., Lodge 738, and her husband Deryl for helping us during our work party.

Mother Nature really smiled down on us for our Aug. 8 picnic. During the previous week we had thunder, lightning and heavy rains, but Sunday was a perfect, sunny day. A special thank you to Vicki Muņoz's son David and his college friend Dave for all of the help that they gave us setting up and taking down tables and tents.

The Puget Sound Button Box Group played all of our favorite Slovenian songs, and we enjoyed visiting with members and friends from SNPJ Lodges 11 and 738, as well as Slovenian Women's Union Branch 79 in Enumclaw. We experienced true fraternalism. We hope to have a bigger and better picnic next year.

Please keep in mind that our next meeting is planned for Sunday, Sept. 5, at the VFW Hall in Auburn.
