Biography of Michael E. Gerhardt
Michael Gerhardt was born in Evansville, Indiana and lived in various parts of that state and Michigan before attending Michigan State University, where he played varsity baseball and earned a BA in Marketing. Mr. Gerhardt subsequently served in the United States Army and then returned to Indiana to earn an MBA from Indiana University.
After intially working for corporations such as Procter and Gamble, Hanes Hosiery and The Franklin Mint, Mr. Gerhardt ran his own marketing agency for fifteen years. During his business career, Mr. Gerhardt earned distinction for his writing abilities, winning awards for his work in radio, television and direct response marketing. He was also a guest speaker at Indiana University, as well as a guest professor at Temple University and NYU. He has written case studies for the Indiana University School of Business, and a complete “How to” manual for product development and marketing for the direct marketing giant, The Franklin Mint.
Although he has won awards for his short stories, Presidential Powers is Mr. Gerhardt’s first novel. He is currently working on his second, a historical fiction about the last days of Abraham Lincoln. He has three grown daughters, is a member of Mensa, is an avid golfer, and now lives in a restored barn in Southeastern Pennsylvania with his life partner, Renate Harshaw.
