The Clans of Shogun
| The WildCard Ninja Clan |
 |
The WildCard Ninja Clan is the most powerful and influential group of players ever to grace the Shogun field... aside from the Council, of course. The WildCards have been around since the very first Shogun game and dominated the playing field without regard for the first few seasons. After not only tasting victory, but feasting and binging and purging victory for so long, the WildCards decided to loosen their grip on the game of Shogun and allow it to run its natural course again. But who knows what they've really been up to?

What is a clan?
|
|
A clan (in Shogun) is a group of players whose alliance exists indefinitely, inside and outside of the game. A clan is a family of players who share a common goal or interest. Outside of the game, members can feel free to train with one another without worrying about making the other person better - the better your clan members are, the better you'll do in the game. A clan should be bound by a code of rules or principles that must be followed.
Secondly, there are specific rules a clan must follow in order for Shogun to work. Specifically, a clan should never have rules in their code that gives them a distinct and/or unfair advantage in the game. For instance, a clan must never restrict members from killing each other at all. A clan's code should work around the current Shogun rules and never interfere with them. (For instance, if a fourth of the players on the field are in a clan that does not allow them to kill each other, there is no question as to what groups will be formed by who throughout the game.) However, clans may restrict members from killing each other in a more specific way. (example: a clan that respects honor may not allow members to kill each other dishonorably.).
Also, a clan should never have a rule that prohibits members from joining other houses. This also conflicts with one of the most important freedoms our players must have in order for a Shogun game to run smoothly.
Other more obvious clan rules that the Council does not allow are ones that conflict with current Shogun rules. For instance, you could not claim that you cannot be armed because your god protects you from all but mortal wounds. Everyone must follow the same basic Shogun rules.
The Council will expect Clans and Guilds to be thought out and planned thoroughly before their introduction. Clans will need background stories and a code of honor to follow that must be approved by the Council before the clan can exist in Shogun. Stories are optional for guilds, but the Council would like to know when one is being started so we can do what we can to promote it.
