Girl Scout Council's are following Standard 33
of Safety Wise, when they say Troops cannot
raise money for specific organizations.
As Leaders and Volunteers of GSUSA we need
to stand together and support them, as well
as honoring our United Way sponsor rules.
There are several ways that Girl Scouts can help.
Visit the GSUSA website at: www.gsusa.org
The site has been updated with "Ways Girl Scouts
Can Show Their Support and Strength". As well as
"Resources and Links" to help Leaders and Troops
handle these emotional times.
On 21 September 2001 President George Bush addressed Congress and mentioned... www.libertyunites.org ...a website uniting the efforts of all. Scroll down to "How Kids Can Help". There are several positive ways for our girls to help without raising money.
Participate in our Council's Own "More Quilts of Service". Your Troop could then donate their quilt to one of these fine organizations... Project Linus at www.projectlinus.org or Operation Cover Up at http://www.opsos.org/opcoverup
There are many ways that Girl Scouts can help. I challenge all of you, to find one of those ways and follow through on it with your troops. Help the girls learn there is more to life than money.
