Originated and Tied By Leon Guthrie

Leons Rubberneck Scorpion
Name Leon's Rubberneck Scorpion
Category Salmon and Trout Spec
HookKamasan B100G (Gold) Size 10 or Salmon Single
Body4mm Gold Bead Head; (Thread Colour of Pattern in this case Red). 25 Strands of Polyester Elastic are tied on behind Gold Bead and build up neck to about the same width of the Gold bead. All strands are then held and stretched while applying permanent ink pen marks on rubber strands. The neck is then covered with Clear Epoxy Resin glue.
CommentsEffective pattern both on river and stillwater fishing. Colour variations created to date are Pink-neck, Green-neck, Red-neck and Purple-neck. All seem to prove effective. I also found that using the pattern suspended using Leons Bite Indicator lures fish into taking the pattern during stillwater fishing.

This pattern was originated and tied by Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. You can see more of his originals at The Flies of Leon Guthrie. See his notes sent about this fly, below.

Leon's Notes: Good results yesterday fishing at Clerklands, me and my brother Tyrone catching 3 rainbows each using the Bigfoot Ant, Redneck Scorpion and Elasticat Nymph. These had captured a lot of interest from those other anglers on the fishery but more so was the interest on my Bite Indicator. They do work very well and you can see the indicator at you longest casting distance very clearly, they where most impressed with it.
