Step 5

Tie in the rear hackle

1. Tie in the rear hackle.

2. Fold the hackles back as you wrap them around the hook.

Note: Ed Ward's pattern calls for long, soft black hackle. I used 5 black-dyed ringneck pheasant rump for this example. Use from 3-5 depending on the size of the hackle.
