It is no surprise that a Scott Howell fly is back as a Steelhead Fly of the week. Scott has been one of the most prolific contributors to this site for the past couple years. But it is not just his output that makes his flies so easy to post, it the technical excellence and attention to detail. They are almost always beautiful to behold. "Freelance" is no exception. See Scott's notes about this fly below. "

Scott's Notes: Northwest legend Alec Jackson dresses and designs some of the most elegant and effective flies ever fashioned. The "Freelance" was created "on the fly" during a recent tying clinic hosted by Pacific Flyfishers in Mill Creek, WA. When asked later what the name of the pattern was, he replied, "...I was just free-lancing"..

You can see more of Scott Howell's flies at The Flies of Scott Howell.
