I couldn't resist showing Scotty Howell's beautifully tied version of Paint Brush. See his notes about this fly below. You can see more of the late Scott Howell's flies at The Flies of Scott Howell.

Scotty's Notes: This Bill McMillan signature fly was developed in 1973 and has more than proven itself as a marvelous Winter Steelhead pattern. It is best dressed on heavier irons and according to Mr. McMillan, fished using a "floating line and strictly on a deep, natural drift."
