Leons Simple Sedge
Originated and Tied by Guthrie Fly

Leons Simple Sedge

Name Leons Simple Sedge
Category Salmon and Trout Species
HookKamasan Size 12
BodyBrown Hare's Ear Yarn
WingVeniard Glister Sparkle Dubbing (Brown)

You may want to include this very successful Sedge Pattern on your site for those stillwater anglers over there, simply made with only Brown Hare's Ear Yarn and Veniard Glister Sparkle Dubbing (Brown) for the wings. At this time of year there has been many Sedge hatches and this has proved very very successful at the fishery catching Blue Trout, Brown Trout and Rainbows in a very short space of time. Other anglers were wondering what I was using, and quite frankly I was quite amazed myself. Although you may have larger Sedges over there and coloration differences, it's worth trying never the less. Maybe on bigger hooks using the same materials. I have tied this on a Kamasan Size 12 hook to make it the original size of our native Sedge species, but even I will make some up in a larger size to see how they fair. I lost two Blue Trout just because the hook was small. Very pleased with the results with this one. <

This pattern was originated and tied by Leon Guthrie of Galashiels, Scotland. You can see more of his originals at The Flies of Leon Guthrie.
