Note: Designed after the color pattern of the Mickey Finn, this fly is tied for mostly clearer water conditions in the big water you'll often find when fishing for Winter Steelhead. You need to control the drift of this fly so that it's not speeding too fast with the current. Use a sinking line to get it down; Cast across stream and immediately throw a large mend; Keep it from being quickly dragged downstream by following the swing of the line, controling it with your rod tip. The idea is to keep a slight tension on the fly, but not enough to allow it to be dragged up and out of the fish holding water.
