The Colonel Bates
The Colonel Bates was tied by Dr. David Burns. You can see many more of Dr. Burns' flies at The Flies of Dr. David Burns.
Dr. Burns' email about this fly: "Here's my last contribution, the Colonel Bates. This is a variation after Bates and Bates (1996). I made the yellow hackle underwing as long as the wing and the white hackle underwing to mid-tail. I picked this fly to mount with a fly by Ronn Lucas, Sr. that he named the David Burns Special, because his fly has a large yellow macaw feather-wing. they are headed for an American Fisheries Society meeting." |
