"The Prussian victories of 1870 that culminated at Sedan led not only to the unification of Germany, but also had the possibly more important result of introducing war-gaming to the British Army."

Updates for December 2009

In the Lyonesse Warhammer campaign we have completed turn 1 and it looks like there will be a battle on turn 2 at Carador. This will involve about 500 Marchestrian Normans led by Duke Rollo himself (taking the field for the first time) against 800 or so Dalriadan Irish.

In the the Big Game SYW campaign we are completing turn 4 of 1750.

Painting continues, of course. I went to a local meet-up group of miniatures painters in November. We met at Gary's Games in Seattle. There were 5 of us. Eve the organizer provided paints and some old minis for us. I did a knight and his squire. She also gave me 25 very-well-painted Medieval infantry she no longer wanted.

The Panzer Depot in Kirkland had its black friday sale -- figures 30-60% off. I picked up about $500 worth of figures for $260. I got Crusader 28mm (really 30mm) SYW Austrians (cuirassiers and fusiliers) and a bunch of 30YW figures from The Assault Group.

Below are some pics of a demi-brigade of Batavian infantry from the early Napoleonic wars. This is nearly the last of the figures I got from Matt: 24 more Batavians and 24 British left.

1st Battalion

3rd Battalion

22nd Battalion
Batavian Republic Infantry (15mm Old Glory, 1st, 3rd, and 22nd bns)
