After Finding Out You Have a Lover

            I try to pretend
            it doesn't matter,
            like garbage
            the day after pick-up,
            or feeding to the cat
            the remains
            of our 7,300th meal.

            I try to pretend
            it doesn't matter,
            like foreign subtitles
            on a silent movie,
            or hearing only gibberish
            when your lips say
            goodbye.
