Update (01/05/02) I have some project ideas on the Trike so it's in the workshop, and I have been busy with buying new suspention forks for the mongoose, blue rockshox, to go with the captain america theme I've got going with my two wheeler. Update (8/23/01) I've put the trike in the workshop downstairs, where it will be rebuilt better than before, with the house I don't seem to have as much time for it as I used too, but I'll take the box off the back, can't take too much with it anyway, and maybe the electric motor will last longer, I did have alot of success with just hooking a 1.5volt solar panel to the 12volt battery, it kept the battery closer to full power, I might even try bigger panels, but first I have to put solar panels on the roof, get them hooked into the lights.

Update(1/11/01) Ok I haven't done much with my bike or trike, I got a house now, so it's my main project. But I still bike to work. My Mongoose still has a 27" wheel on the back, yep it does great for getting up to speed. first pics of my trike first pics of my trike

I have them, yes the the latest pics of my Trike, me on my trike, and that Zap drive. There are also pics of the pulley wheels or pulley wheelsI have modified me trike with to keep me chain path as centered as possible, straight chain means less resistance.

(8/18/00)Yes I have a new link, from the people I bought my little zap drive.

(7/26/00) Ok I had to buy another one of them Rans pulley wheels for the rear set of pulleys, now I have to remember to go get it. Not alot of bike/trike news since I've been busy with yard sales, note to anyone, never put an ad in the paper, just find a busy street and put up a sign, I folded large pieces of cardboard into a triangle and weighted them down with bricks, a couple of tassles, and you wouldn't believe the crap somepeople will pay money for.

(6/8/00) I have the trike working well, and I'm getting the usual looks of awe, especially when I'm wizing along with the zap drive. Note to self, remember to put wallet somewhere safe when riding trike. It fell out a few weeks ago and I fortunately got it back that night from someone who liked my trike. If the weather gets better I'll be riding it to work again soon. Who needs to peddle, just flip the lever;)=

(4/23/00)Ok it's been a while since the last update on my trike, I ordered a Rans pulley wheel at REI and should be back up ad running by next week. I have been busy with my mother's Estate cleaning and all. My trike might be in a local newspaper, I'll try to get a pic in it and since I'm about to get a new digital camera I'll have more pics up soon, even some of the Zap DX drive I put on a while ago.

(2/17/00)I went to the Seattle Bike Expo and met Wayne from Wizwheelz, I wanted to see some of the other bikes, trikes and recumbents, to get some ideas for my trike. I did, I'm going to the skate shop and buy some wheels and grind them into chain guides like I want. As soon as I get moved into my new house I'll be able to work on it more. Oh and somehow I thought Wayne would be older;)=

(1/27/00)Well the best of all news, the DX drive works great, it doesn't do so well on hills but in the straitaways it's real fast. Sad news though, the pulley wheels didn't last too long since the sprocket was only pressed onto the bearings, it cam off when I was just up the hill from my Aunt's house. I'm going to replace it with a wheel from one of them downhill tentioners. I had been planning to cover the basket, but I wasn't sure if there was a rubbermaid product that would fit, I found one at fred meyers and put the basket inside for strength and off centered it so that there is room for the battery on the right side. Also there will be more pics as soon as I can.

(1/20/00)Ok folks I just got these two pics so far, the photolab chewed up the rest of the film so these are it so far. But don't fear, there will be more, and the great news is that these two didn't cost me anything, even to have them put onto a CD-ROM. Oh and I get free processing on my next order.

(1/16/00)Ok got the SPD pedals from Nashbar I'm not sure if the're carbon fiber or just have a really kewl coating that looks carbon fiber, the box said alloy. But the best thing was the rear derailer wheels(green) that I bought a cheap peice of steel for a bracket, painted it black, and hey I've got a chain that doesn't bind like it used to. I did have to give up some ground clearance(knock on Algore's head for luck) I hope that won't be an issue. With the cleats I bought from AAA Triathlon Equipment, the're sort of like Crampons except instead of big spikes for digging into snow there are cleats for SPD pedals, I'm just going to leave them locked into the pedals and velcrow my way in and out of them, there called the "Power Clip Elite". Oh and best of all, them pics I've been promising are in development right now as I type away, so soon you will get to see me on my trike and I took pics of the improvements to my trike(improvements to me). I did get a really nice receipt from the Zap drive people, I can only hope that the "econo fed ex" shipping will get it here sometime this year. It's always weird to get a receipt before the product you ordered.

(1/10/00)I finally got the soldering gun I ordered from Harbor Freight Tools and was able to touch a little solder where the little tab for the (-) side of the battery went, and hey for a dollar why wouldn't you buy an Avocet 45 cyclometer. I used some old inner tube to shim around the mirror so I have a place to put it, that and moved the gear shifter to the left side(not that I'm fond of the left side) so as to put the controls for the Zap DX drive on the right side. I have had to make big changes for the chain path, the stock skateboard wheels weren't getting it done for me, I chewed the rear one up in a couple of weeks. I bought a two pulley wheels bracket for a Vision recumbent and for the front I'm going to use a couple of alloy rear-derailer wheels(green).

(1/3/00)So I've had it for a few weeks, pretty good machine, I'm not sure why people are looking at me, either they can't figure it out or they wonder what kind of weirdo is riding that wheelchair like thing. Yes it does seem like your on a wheelchair instead of a bike. Which is way kewl when you want people to get out of your way, they act all apologetic, and move fast. Yep all I need is a blanket and a cup and I can make money, ha ha. I also just bought an electric motor, no not the US Prodrive I wanted(they don't seem to want to sell to anyone but one type of client, the type that rides once a year. Well that not being me, and the middleman sales guy kept on refering to me in the thrid person when I was standing right there, he wanted me to trash the rear rim I just built up for a smaller stock rim that came with one of their folding bikes, no info on cost(hey remember I'm a third person) as he didn't grasp the concept that I wanted a conversion kit that would work on my rim. So their loss, I bought a Zap DX drive, which should get me going just as fast and I can recharge it on the downhill, and it looks like it will fit easily, and hey I bought it online, no fuss, no muss and YK3 ready.

The next test was going up the hill, grrr, that was a little harder than I wanted it to be. Also I haven't gotten the front sprocket lined up right yet so I my be loosing some power there, I'll try some spacers later to try and get that lined up. If that doesn't work I'll go with a smaller sprocket in front.

Ok lets say you buy something and your not sure how much your going to like it, well I took it out for a spin and the TerraTrike was great, just got to get some nerve up to take that turn faster going down the hill. I did move the seat back and I do need to get a fender in the back.

WizWheelz
Recumbent Trikes Not much for Bike Links so far, just the one I bought my TerraTrike, I bought a frameset instead of the whole thing, saved me alot since I don't have to replace all the stuff I want on a bike/trike, from what is on it, ok and the thrill from making it something only I ride.

I bought the rear rim from Gaerlan Custom Cycle and a quite informative wheelbuilding CD-ROM to build up the wheel. I also have bought some parts at Nashbar and Price Point , both sites offer free catalogs with discount items. Well I got the orders from these two sites pretty quick. And for $14.95 from Price Point I bought a set of V-brake levers, Wow, I was shocked to see cables and cable housing the cable housing was long and a short, the short was long enough to reach either brake, so I used the extra cable housing for the Grip Shift I bought from them too, a nice eight speed shifter, no numbers on it though:(. My Trike is only an Eight speed, I never was a left shifter anyway, so what do I put on that side, I'm planning for a US Pro Drive, yes electric! I bought a grunge guard and a pair of rain pants from Nashbar.

A couple of Great Seattle bike links are Recycled Cycles where when I need that hard to find part to fit my idea of how something should go together, I go there, they also have a great deal on two tire tubes for $5. The other is Gregg's Greenlake who may not be cheapest, but if you need to order something, it will be there when they say it will, unlike those evil Wedgewood Cycle people.

Ok Here's a good bike training info link, Asimba.com has a good refrence of Biking articles, as well as that free vest I mention on the Free Stuff page.
