Alder Lake (2931 acres)

Fish Species Present: Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie and Yellow Perch.

This large reservoir covers parts of Pierce (1690 acres), Thurston (1117 acres), and Lewis (124 acres) Counties.

Bald Hill Lake (44.8 acres)

Elevation 633ft. Max Depth 15ft.

Largemouth bass and perch are primary species in this lake Approximately 11 miles southeast of Yelm. Best fishing is late spring and early summer, as aquatic vegetation can make it difficult to fish in late summer. Year-around season.

Black Lake (576.1 acres)

Elevation 127ft. Max Depth 40ft.

This lake 4 miles southwest of Olympia, holds Rainbow Trout, cutthroat, largemouth bass, Yellow perch and Blackcrappie,Pumpkinseed, and a few brown bullheads available. There is a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Year-around fishing season. Disabled accessibility - Level 2. WCT, Blk Tpa, lgs.

Capitol Lake (270 acres)

This Olympia lake provides a few cutthroat. The special plant of rainbow trout normally made before Free Fishing Weekend will not be made this year, due to pollution problems in the lake resulting from last winter's storms. A run of fall chinook passes through the lake, with a good fishery available some years depending on the strength of the run. Check the regulations pamphlet for the rather complex season.

Chambers Lake (Big) (72.5 acres)

Elevation 194ft. Max Depth 8ft.

This lake holds cutthroat, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Bluegill, Black Crappie and Brown Bullhead. Public access on the NW shore. Three miles SE of Olympia. County road from Hwy 510 at Lacey to the lake.

Chambers Lake (Little) (49.1 Acres)

Elevation 194ft. Max Depth 7ft. Fish Species Present: Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Bluegill, Black Crappie and Brown Bullhead.

Clear Lake (170 acres)

Fishing should be good for 9- to 13-inch rainbow and brown trout, with a few cutthroat and largemouth bass. Some brown trout to 6 pounds. This very popular lake in the Bald Hills region southeast of Yelm will be crowded on opening day. It has a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Get there early for limited parking. Last Saturday in April through October 31 open season.

Deep Lake (66.1 acres)

Elevation 196ft. Max Depth 17ft.

Good for 9- to 11-inch rainbow trout, Also holds largemouth bass and bluegill. Millersylvania State Park provides access and a boat ramp. Located 9 miles south of Olympia. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31.

Elbow Lake (36 acres)

Elevation 479ft. Max Depth 15ft.

This Bald Hills-area lake is best for cutthroat, largemouth bass and Yellow perch after the water warms in spring. Open to fishing year-around, but access may be difficult.

Hicks Lake (171.3 acres)

Elevation 158ft. Max Depth 36ft.

This Lacey-area lake should be good for 9- to 10-inch planted rainbows and some larger brown trout. As the water warms up, so does the action for Black crappie, largemouth bass, Yellow perch, rock bass, Pumpkinseed, Warmouth and bullhead catfish. Hicks has a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Open season from the last Saturday in April through October 31.

Lawrence Lake

This is a 339 acre rainbow and brown trout lake. It is six miles from south of Yelm and six miles SE of Rainer. The lake has a public access area.

Long Lake (311 acres)

Elevation 153ft.

holds, Trout, Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass, Black Crappie, Warmouth, Pumpkinseed and Yellow Perch. Located 5.5 miles east of Olympia. Public access. Take Hwy 510 about 1.5 miles east of Lacey, passing Hicks Lake to west shore.

Longs Pond (10 acres)

This juveniles-only pond in Lacey is planted annually with rainbow trout. A few largemouth bass, sunfish and perch are also available. Open season is year-round.

McIntosh Lake (93 acres)

This lake 3-1/2 miles northeast of Tenino is good for rainbows 9-11 inches, lots of yellow perch plus a few largemouth bass. McIntosh has also been selected to receive a bonus plant of large triploid rainbow trout (averaging 1-1/2 pounds apiece). These sterile fish can grow to trophy size if not harvested. A state access with boat launch and two toilets is available. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31. Disabled accessibility ­ Level 3. WCT, Blk Tpa, steep hill.

Munn Lake (29.8 acres)

Elevation 139ft. Max Depth 19ft.

Munn is fair for 8- to 10-inch rainbows, good for largemouth bass and bluegill as the water warms. Located approximately 1 mile southeast of Tumwater, it has a state access with boat launch and one toilet. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31.

Offut Lake (192 acres)

Elevation 236ft. Max Depth 25ft.

Offut is usually good for 9 to 11 inch rainbow carry overs. It also holds largemouth bass, Yellow perch and Brown Bullhead. Crowded on opening day, it has a state access with small boat launch, two toilets and limited parking. Offut is about 3 miles north of Tenino.

Pattison Lake (257 acres)

Pattison (Patterson) Lake: Fair fishing for brown trout and planted rainbows with carry-overs running over 16 inches is typical of the opener on Patterson. Also holds largemouth bass, Yellow perch, Bluegill, Black crappie and rock bass. This lake in south Lacey has a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31.

South County Ponds

South county ponds: Many of the ponds in the Bald Hills region of southern Thurston County have good populations of largemouth bass and possibly perch, brown bullhead catfish and crappies. Many also receive cutthroat fry plants.

Elevation 173ft. Max Depth 10ft. Fish Species Present: Largemouth Bass and Brown Bullhead.

Springer Lake (5.5 Acres)

Elevation 300ft. Max Depth 10ft. Fish Species Present: Largemouth Bass, Brown Bullhead and Bluegill.

St. Clair Lake (244.7 acres)

Elevation 73ft. Max Depth 11ft.

A few rainbows mixed with largemouth bass ,Rock Bass, Yellow perch, Warmouth, bluegills, Pumpkinseed, and White crappies are available year-round, with kokanee in the summer. There is a state access with two boat launches and two toilets. St. Clair is about 5 miles southeast of Lacey.
The lake has an excellent concrete boat launch and parking area, with very good handicap access. The lake is about 75% developed and the rest brush/trees. There is currently a 5 MPH restriction. There is a second rough boat launch, looks too deep to back a trailer in.

Summit Lake (522.6 Acres)

Elevation 500ft. Max Depth 10ft.

Located about 9 miles west of Olympia, Summit is considered fair for 8- to 10-inch rainbows. Cutthroat and kokanee are available too, as well as largemouth bass, Yellow perch and bullhead catfish. There is a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31. Disabled accessibility Level 2. WCTs, Blk Tpa, gs, unlevel surfaces.

Anglers should find good fishing for 8- to 10-inch rainbows in this lake 2-1/2 miles south of Olympia. Ward Lake has also been selected to receive a bonus plant of large triploid rainbow trout (averaging 1-1/2 pounds apiece). These sterile fish can grow to trophy size if not harvested. Kokanee, largemouth bass, Black Crappie and bluegill may show as the weather warms. Ward has a state access with boat launch and two toilets. Unauthorized swimming and/or partying on the access may result in access closure some weekends. Open season runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31.
