Antelope Island
Most of Antelope Island is grassland.
Because there is so much grass, then many animals can live there.
There are also some little streams which come off of the Antelope
Island Mountains. These help provide water for the animals.
There are about 550 bison on Antelope Island.
They were brought to the island in 1893. Antelopes or pronghorns
disappeared from the island a long time ago, but were brought back in
1993.
Bighorn sheep were added recently too.
There are lots of deer too.

There are meat-eating mammals too. Coyotes
and bobcats
are the largest ones. You can
also find badgers,
foxes,
weasels,
raccoons.
and others.
There is a lot of animals for the meat-eaters to eat. Small rodents
like mice, voles,
and kangaroo rats
are on the
island. Bunnies
and jack rabbits
can bee seen too. Not too many
meat-eaters mess with the porcupine.
You can see lots of birds on Antelope Island too. You can find
shorebirds like plovers
and killdeer.
There are also birds in the grassland
areas like chukar
and pheasants.

You can find brine shrimp in the Great Salt Lake by the shores of Antelope Island and see tons of brine flies. MMMMMMM!!! It's one of my favorite restaurants.
Antelope Island is very important because of how many animals it has. You can see them too!
