Sharondipity's Place

We have long admired Sharon Bateman, a multi-talented bead wizard. She has written more than 70 articles that can be found in various bead magazines. She is an extraordinary bead artist and it was our great pleasure to spend 3 days with her at the Spokane Washington Bead Society Retreat in Metaline Falls Washington this fall.

Here is some of the gorgeous beaded eye candy Sharon brought with her. Diane took digital pictures. The tiger is awesome as are the other pieces!!

She taught us how to use her bracelet loom and how to make beady tiny creatures from her "Peepers" book. She brought along some of her 3D sculpture pieces that were awesome and amazing to behold.

The purpose of this page is to bring Sharon into the online cyber world for those of us who cannot attend shows or live in a bead desert. Her tube looms are wonderful and it is my understanding that she makes them in her kitchen.

Her newest book is called "The Morning Rose". It's not crochet (although it was inspired by that art form). It's all done with square stitch and is a wonderful new 3D pattern. Use the rosette for a pin, hairclip or front of an amulet bag. It also makes a beautiful ornament for the front of a purse. Make 3, 4 or 5 petals and add dangles for another great Victorian look.

Her bracelet loom is clear plastic, 3 sided, and measures 2x2x2inches. No leftover threads to deal with as it is done in one continuous piece. The finished bracelet that shown with the loom was made by Sharon and I am the very proud owner of it along with the rosette pin that is used as a background for this page. The froggie bracelet in progress is mine and when it's finished, froggie legs will extend off the edges of the bracelet, a 3D effect. You can contact Sharon for her Leap Frog bracelet chart too.

Here's the rosette pin/brooch that Sharon created with micro bugles, crystals, crystal point and I think 22/0 iris violet teensy seedbeads. It is gorgeous!!! And it's mine, mine, mine.....!!!
