From the Desk of our pastor, Bishop Dave Cabales...
Faith To Heal
Nov 20th, 2001
On Nov 6, 2001 a delivery truck drove around the back of the church. Our new banquet tables which we had ordered for a special holiday concert had arrived. While unloading, a stack of tables fell off the truck and onto the pastor, Dave Cabales, knocking me to the ground. The accident fractured my left hip. Kaye and the driver had to help me to my feet. I went directly to the hospital.
Since I had so many major medical conditions, I had to lie two days in the hospital before surgeons could determine how to complete the operation without disturbing my other medical problems. After surgery on the hip, this involved securing three pins through the hip bone, my kidneys then shut down.
I had to go through three sessions of dialysis while in the hospital. I found out how difficult these 3-4 hour sessions are on the body. I really empathize with those who must do this on a daily basis. I have been faced with borderline kidney failure for several years now, but that day the doctors informed me that I would now have to do dialysis on a regular basis.
I was discharged from the hospital yesterday! (Nov 19th). A night in my own bed after two weeks was like heaven. The plan for me was to do an outpatient blood draw the next morning, then on Wednesday go back to the hospital for another dialysis session. Next, because I was to be on dialysis permanently, the Dr’s would have to remove the temporary shunt in my neck and replace it with a permanent one. The new shunt would be used on Friday’s dialysis session and all sessions in the future.
I want to praise God for another miracle! I received a call tonight from my Kidney Doctor. She had great news. As she studied my last blood test, the numbers started looking better. The doctor said if I would go ahead with my next scheduled dialysis session she would feel more secure about it. She would then have the temporary shunt removed and would not install a permanent one. She would then cancel all future dialysis sessions.
This is another result of the many prayers offered up. I thank you and God for His miracle working power. Once again, I got to the edge of death where the doctors could not do anymore, and then God came and rescued me!-----------
