Star trek, the animated series, aired in the 1970's after the original star trek was cancelled. Modeled after the original series, the animated series kept the original actors from the first series. Yet, because of pressure from paramount to meet a deadline, it's animators only wrote 22 episodes. They had to be done so quickly that the show lacked quality. Roddenberry later rejected the series as cannon star trek because of the poor reviews it received.
