Ian Thorpe is part of the proof that Australia has some of the finest swimmers in the world. He is the latest "Boy Wonder" of Australian (and WORLD) swimming, winning his first world championship in the 400m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Perth, January 1998. He was 15 years of age and was claimed the youngest world champion in history.
