An Eye on Wrestling

Banner of the Week

According to a study done for "Inside Edition" by Indiana University, on average, sixteen times an hour a World Wrestling Federation superstar points to or grabs his or her crotch on the WWF's "Raw Is War" wrestling program on cable's USA Network.

...Of course in Washington, DC, this is known as "intern initiation."

The same reports found that in the fifty "Raw" episodes from the last year, 609 times wrestlers were struck with assorted objects like garbage cans, nightsticks or chairs.

...Of course, this study comes from the same school that has Bobby Knight, noted chair-tosser, as their men's basketball coach.

...They mistook this at IU for several episodes of "Jerry Springer."

Also discovered in this "Inside Edition" Indiana University study of the WWF "Raw Is War" program, were 434 instances where wrestlers or fans said a sexually-charged saying or showed it on a sign, 157 cases where a wrestler or audience member "flipped the bird", and 128 simulated activities of a sexual nature.

...Wait a minute ... This sounds like an average night at a New York City sporting event!!!

More on RAW .... There were 47 satanic references, 42 simulations of drug use, and 21 times there was talk, or appearances of, for a safer word, "number one", and 20 times, a character appeared as a prostitute.

...Of course, these are also the same things that happen in a year on Capitol Hill.

...Not one appearance, though, by characters claiming to be the President of the United States, a First Lady or White House interns.
