Every Second Counts

Host: Bill Rafferty

Premise: Married couples answer dual-choice questions to build time that can win them a car.

Rules: In round one, the pairs are asked questions that could be answered with one of two options: "Are these ice cream flavors real or not?" Nine questions were played in each category, and only the first team to buzz in could guess. Correct answers awarded 2 seconds to the couple. If the player answered incorrectly, he or she was out of the running for the rest of the category. The questions started out easy in the beginning, but got harder as the category went farther. When all nine questions were done, or when all three teams were eliminated, the category was done. Three categories were played in round one.

Round 2 offered 4 seconds for each correct answer, and the teams switched out who would play the questions, and who would sit out. After three more categories, the team with the most seconds won the game and moved on to the bonus.

Bonus: In the bonus, the winning team used their time to answer questions on four levels. The first level required four questions be answered to win the prize package there, and each level after required one more question than the last, up to seven for the fourth. The prizes got better as the game progresed, and for answering all 22 questions correctly, the couple won a new car, and a nice one. Questions had the same three choices on each level.
