All Star Blitz

Host: Peter Marshall
Announcer: John Harlan
Lifespan: April-December 1985, ABC

Premise: A puzzle variant of "Hollywood Squares"

Rules: Four celebrities are seated on a panel. The game screen was made up of twelve stars surrounding six screens. The screen was located above the players, thus everything was "over their heads." The stars made six boxes, which hid words or letters to a puzzle. One player selected a celebrity and star (top, middle or bottom) and Peter read a question as in "Hollywood Squares". A correct answer lit up the star and the turn continued. A miss left the star alone and the opponent got a chance.

The Puzzle: When the four stars surrounding a puzzle square were lit, the piece was revealed and the player got a guess.

Winning: First to solve two puzzles won the game and played the Blitz Bonanza. The winner received a prize package worth approximately $3,000 as well.

Bonus Game: "Blitz Bonanza": The player was given four spins of a 30 section wheel (1-6 appearing five times) to determine what puzzle pieces were revealed. As the wheel spun, different sections of the board lit up (in one episode, you can hear the champion begging "Top right, come on, top right...") until the wheel stops. The champ then has a choice; either solve the puzzle as is for the money, or give back the prizes won in the maingame for one more spin. If the player could solve the puzzle, he or she won the jackpot ($10,000 plus $2500 for each failure, up to $25,000). If the contestant failed, the player could win $250 for each celebrity that had the right answer.
