Round 15
[Wei Ping] Taking the clipboard from John Ford, she nods and heads to the hangar door. After leaving the hangar she will check around the area outside briefly to see if the disturbance has attracted any undue attention. If nothing appears amiss she will continue back to the L4. There are a couple of matters there to attend to after all. She wonders if Mattac has been able to take care of the assignment yet.
[GM] As Wei Ping leaves the
hangar, she sees a figure approaching. It is a woman dressed in a
ship's jumpsuit. Over this she wears a coat with the hood up, partially
obscuring her dark-skinned features. Wisps of white hair escape from
under the hood, but she does not move like an old woman.
A Port
Security guard approaches her. They speak for a moment, and then
the guard quickly walks away in the opposite direction. Hardly looking
ahead of her, the woman moves unerringly toward the Lightwing's berth.
[Wei Ping] This is so frustrating. Wei Ping is dying of curiosity about this woman and her reason for visiting the lightwing at this time of day, but she can’t think of a single good reason to go back to the hangar to find out what is going on. She will walk slowly away from the hangar and try to observe as much detail as possible, without overtly gawking. If the clip on the clipboard is shiny enough she will try to use that to see behind her as she passes. At the point that she can’t delay any further without becoming suspicious looking, she will continue to the L4 transports hangar area.
[GM] As the woman passes
near Wei Ping, she turns her head and opens her mouth as if to speak to
her. Then she tilts her head and shakes it as if she's made a mistake.
She shrugs and continues toward the Lightwing's Hangar. Seemingly
unconcerned if Wei Ping is watching or not, she proceeds to the passenger
door of the Lightwing's hangar. There she activates the comm unit
chime that serves as a doorbell to the hangar.
Since
the woman doesn't seem to be paying attention and no port security officials
are in evidence, Wei Ping can hang out for a while or take off for the
L4…
Inside the Lightwing's Cargo hold, On the Tarmac near the Lightwing
[Sha] As Sha and Joan Blackhawk begin to load the cargo, Sha reflects on this morning's events and his own resolution to be the best student of the Jedi that he can. Perhaps, he thinks, now would be as good as time as any to start. "Master Blackhawk, since your student I now am, perhaps you will enlighten me as to this mornings activities? Curious I am -- what happened? And perhaps of more immediate concern, things like this, do they often happen?"
[Joan] Joan continues to
release the straps on the turbo laser as Sha gets the loader. She moves
around the trailer with single-minded intent.
Once
Sha gets back she indicates where the loader should go with economic hand
gestures and remains in the trailer to guide the laser onto the appropriate
whatevers.
As Sha
speaks, she meets his eyes and gives a little shake of her head. After
helping load the turbo laser onto the loader, she gestures for him to trundle
the load into the narrow cargo hold.
Jumping lightly off of the
trailer, Joan walks around to the side of the cab and speaks to Jymmig.
"Thank you for your assistance.
You are free to go."
She then
turns and follows Sha into the cargo hold. Once the laser is within its
confines, she raises the cargo door from the inside controls and faces
Sha. "Sha, the fact that Jedi are once again afoot in the galaxy
is a fact best kept private. Especially on an Imperial world like this."
Her lips twitch once... maybe a smile.
She moves
around the cargo bay, securing the laser. "Yes, events like that do seem
attracted to us and are becoming more and more common. What happened."
She meets Sha's eyes. "We have an opponent, the Machshayfa. He is a user
of the Dark Side, more powerful than ourselves, more experienced than ourselves
and connected with Are Miklot. The Machshayfa used that connection to temporarily...
possess Are."
"Now
that Are and ourselves are aware of that possibility, it is unlikely to
happen again. However, the Machshayfa will undoubtedly continue to strike
at us however he can."
She waits for any questions.
[Sha] "Who or what is the Machshayfa?"
[Joan] The pilot shakes her
head. "He is user of the Dark Side, more powerful than ourselves,
more experienced than ourselves and connected with Are Miklot." A
grim smile lines her face. "Anything beyond that is speculation."
"There
are hints that he is from Are's homeworld of Batel. There is...a
danger of the Force among the men of that world. There is some indication
that the Machshayfa was created either by that danger -- the Ru'ach --
or by an attempt at its cure."
"He seeks
power. More importantly, he seeks it through Are. Though he
will take any untrained or careless practitioners of the Force, he can
catch." Her eyes hold warning and a bit of sympathy. "He has caused
us all pain. He seems to revel in that." Joan's expression
becomes absolutely unreadable. "And his reach grows longer each time
we have contact with him."
"All
of us have had visions... a dark spiral, an Imperial presence...toward
the Rim. A gathering darkness." Words elude her.
"But
like all things of the Dark, he can be faced with the Light." A quiet
full smile spreads across Joan's lips and her eyes see something else momentarily
before focusing back on Sha.
[Sha] Hearing DT's warning,
Sha chuckles "As you said, more and more common are the events. Many
questions I have, but a less busy place would be better for them."
The big Barabel turns his attention to securing the cargo as quickly as
possible. "Surprised not would I be, if we must depart this place
quickly" he thinks to himself.
Sha will
continue to secure the cargo unless he hears a disturbance out in the docking
bay. Once secure he will go see what's going on (unless otherwise
instructed by his teacher).
(OOC - DT will attempt to repair the BTY droid.)
[GM] Looking at the droid,
DT can tell this is not like fixing Sha's Arm. The humanoid droid
has been bisected at the waist. In addition to the physical damage
this caused, there are obviously burned-out circuits and couplings.
The droid would have to be brought back online to see if there has been
memory or programming damage.
DT has
sufficient tools to effect the repair, but not with any safety. She
can put Betty back together, but without the droid being hooked up to a
feedback computer to identify problems during reassembly, she could easily
cause more damage.
The R4
droid trundles up next to Bif. He whistles his relief that his primary
master is okay, and asks how he can help.
[DT] Safety?!? We don' need no safety. <grin> OK really. What DT's gonna do is see about caulking off the loose 'n' hot wires. Reroute the power so the droid don' get no instant fry feedback during reboot. Then she blows a strand of greasy hair out of her eyes and looks around. When her eyes light on the R4, she gets a big grin. "Hey, Boss! Kin I borrow the Astromech for a while?"
[Bif] Bif looks at the R4 unit as it trundles up and gives it a quick caress around the top dome. "R4, I need you to help DT work on Betty." He looks at DT. "Can you do the preliminary work out here? (Bif is remembering Joan's vehement refusal to let "that person" on the Lightwing) "I have used R4 to work on Betty in the past so he has her prior parameters in his memory. I can work on her myself but as you can see there are a few problems competing for my attention at the moment." Bif looks distractedly at Joan working at the Cargo bay and then down at the paperwork in his hands. Bif kneels down in front of R4 and looks the droid in the sensors. "R4, I want you to work nice with DT and don't mess with Betty's programming. Do not let what she did at the shipyard color your actions."
[GM] The droid whistles his happy compliance.
[DT] The tech watches
John speak to the droid, with a non-plussed look. If
the guy's got some sensitivity
to the mech and prier 'perience, he can't be all stiff... well, maybe.
She snorts.
"Sure,
I can work here. Glad to hear the R4 got a clue. Should be no prob' 'tween
the two of us, right?" She asks the astromech with a confident grin. 'Sides
I'm the one who'll be messin' with the Imp's 'grammin' anyway.' she thinks.
[Are] Are will get up and go look around, heading for the door to leave the ship… needs fresh air (as it were) and to see "whassup" Will use sense to detect anyone familiar or for baseline danger/ or just other people… checks to ensure has blaster and lightsaber.
[GM] As are leaves the ship he can hear clanging and voices in the cargo hold. His senses tell him Joan is inside. Blackhawk's connection that she is maintaining has also alerted her that Are is up and about. Outside the ship, Are sees DT and the R4 droid commencing repairs on Betty, who has looked better.
[DT] DT looks up in surprise as Are appears in the doorway. "Sh*t!" she thinks, "The dead rise up and walk!" Her eyes showing surprise that someone around here is even more scruffy and beat up looking than herself.
[GM] As the others welcome Are back to the land of the living, the hangar's passenger door chimes.
[DT] DT's head snaps up from where she's working with Betty and R4. She looks over to the panel and then calls up thru the open hatch of the Lightwing. "Bo--ooss! More company!" She grins over to Are and then plunks herself back down on the tarmac.
[Bif] Bif hears the doorchime from the speakers inside the Lightwing. Using the comlink he asks "Joan, you want to get that or should I?"
