Looking Back

To My Wife

Looking back on all the years, I'm glad to see you there.
A strong support to lean on, yet full of gentleness and care.
My dreams, my life, my everything entwined with your life too.
Held our bond so strong together our love bloomed pure and true.
The sparkle in your eyes has grown brighter through the days,
Watching as our children grew, then went their separate ways.
My life could not have been complete in ways I never knew,
I leave a million memories, of joyous days with you.

To My Children

I know how much you love me, and how even on the days,
We fought through pain and conflict I felt your love in different ways.
I don't want you to cry for me, but remember when I'm gone...
The times of smiles and happiness, in a family where you belong.
I love each one of you, my sons and daughters both the same,
You all grew up to make me proud, in you I see no shame.
I bid you all to prosper, and my only wish is this:
That I could have lived a little longer, I know there's things I'll miss.
My darling little girls, I leave my love to you.
And with the hope from a father, of finding true love too.
To my sons I leave my treasure of our family's name.
Thus far clean and unmarked, hoping you can pass it down the same.
I leave you all, my strength and wisdom, to raise my grandkids right.
And with goodness I'll watch over them, as you kiss them each goodnight.

To God

I thank you Lord, for giving me a life, full and complete.
I don't know how you did it Lord, nothing can compete.
Looking back I cannot find an event I'd wish to change.
And if I could live my life again, I'd want it just the same.
You gave me, Lord, a family, held tight with bonds of love.
I thank you again, as I thanked you then, please watch them from above.
You gave me friends, and hopes and dreams, my children and my wife,
For all these gifts O Lord, I don't regret giving you my life.
You watched me grow and helped me live, through all of life's endeavors,
For you are the kingdom, and you are the power, and you, are the glory forever.

With All My Love,
Amen
