Ranma 1/2

Male and Female-type Ranma, and P-chan

Ranma 1/2 is a comedy by the ever proliferate Rumiko Takahashi. When the main character Ranma Saotome was training with his father in China, he fell into a cursed spring. As a result of falling into the cursed water fo teh spring, he turns into a girl whenever he touches cold water and turns back into a boy when he touches hot water. Ranma is engaged to the girl Akane Tendo by the arrangement of their fathers, and they're supposed to inherit the Anything Goes Martial Arts dojo owned by the Tendo family. Akane is a rather violent girl, also experienced in martial arts, and she and Ranma always get into arguments. They act like they don't like eachother, but they actually do (just read manga #38).

Unfortunantely, both Akane and Ranma have a lot of suitors: Ryoga, Ranma's rival in martial arts, is in love with Akane and turns into a cute little pig called P-chan when he touches cold water; the upperclassman Kuno is in love with both Akane and girl-type Ranma while hating male Ranma; Kuno's insane sister Kodachi is in love with male Ranma and hates girl-type Ranma as well as Akane; an amazon girl named Shampoo turns into a cat when she touches cold water, and she's in love with Ranma while hating Akane; a man named Mousse turns into a duck and is in love with Shampoo and therefore hates Ranma, who she has a crush on; a girl named Ukyou is in love with Ranma and tends to be quite dangerous with her spatulas. Add in an old pervert named Happosai whose martial arts powers increase by stealing panties, and you've got one hell of a hilarious anime.

The Ranma 1/2 manga spans 38 books, and there's a ton of videos too, and they're available for sale in English. This is the funniest anime that I've ever watched, and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a good laugh.
