HanaKimi is about a girl, Mizuki Ashiya, who lives in America. One day, she became instantly captivated with a boy named Izumi Sano when she watched a high jump competition, so she decided to move to Japan and transfer to his school. However, there's only one problem: Sano goes to an all-boys school. This series follows the hilarious every-day life of Mizuki at the Ohsaka School for Boys, as it mainly focuses on Mizuki and Sano's relationship. To increase the tension, Mizuki gets placed as Sano's room mate, and many amusing scenes happen as a school mate, Nakatsu, develops a crush on Mizuki (it's hilarious how Nakatsu gets a nosebleed imagining Mizuki as a girl, even though he's still unaware that she really is a girl). Sano, on the other hand, figures out Mizuki's secret even at the very beginning of the story, but he doesn't tell Mizuki or anyone else. There's currently 12 volumes of this manga series, and it's still continuing in Hana to Yume magazine.
I really love this series! The surrounding characters are just as interesting and lovable as the main characters, each of them displaying a distinct personality that adds to the hilarity of the manga. Hisaya Nakajo's artwork is great throughout the series -- what else could you want from a funny but touching manga series?
