No school because of record snow fall so we went hunting. Jump hunting unfrozen water, which isn't a lot in this area now. We saw several groups of ducks but snow was to crunchy to get close. |
January quail hunt before the big snows hit! | January duck hunt, jump hunting unfrozen water! | Post Chrismas hunt, we also killed 21 quail the day before, pictures to come after developing. My digital camera was frozen up and wouldn't work! |
Gabe and young setter pup and Gabe's first Pheasant. Gabe also got his first bucking off from a horse! Now that's funny, I don't care who you are, that's funny, well at least to those watching it happen! | Postgate with young setter pup. | The pair with days kill from horseback. |
Three great horses, the one on the right is the best I have ever ridden although he does live up to his name, "Crazy horse" on occasion. |
This is the toughest little setter bitch I believe I have ever seen! We will be breeding her this spring. |
Gabe and Rick are tired and they have been riding! |
Chukar hunting from horseback in "BIG" country, the kind that eats those southern all-age dogs up! Makes'm look like gundogs, especially after an hour! The kind of endurance it takes for a dog or a horse to go through this country all-dayhas to be bred in, genetics! November 30, 2003. | ||
11-26-03, Morning hunt, not bad for 2 hour walk. | 11-15-03 | 11-15-03 |
A great day quail hunting over setter puppies and Yellow labs | An excellent day Grey partridge hunting over Setter bitch | John claiming his share of the hunt |
My son Craig's first bear. 5.5 feet about 250 pounds. One shot from 300 win. mag. at 325 yards, dropped within 10 ft from impact. |
Myself, bear and son Craig | John Roberts, long time friend, bear and Craig |
Me with deer, 3X3 21 inch spread October 11, 2003 | Dr. John Postgate's deer, 3X3 20 inch spread October 19, 2003 | Another exciting event on the trip was this sighting of a cow moose and her calf. Picture is of some distance away but we thought it prudent not to try to get to close. We also shot 9 grouse. |
2005-Maybe I did mine is a 4X5, 26.5 wide and heavy, Craig's was a 3X3, 28 wide! Not a bad buck!We still haven't beaten Craig's 2002 or 2003 deer but he didn't get one this year, however, he did get a cow elk and of course the bear.. |
