Bounti Killer, AKA Rodney Basil Price, was born in the infamous area known as Seaview in 1973. His upbringing in
this area which can only be described as a decrepid mass of 'boardhouse' and poverty has undoubtedly played a
defining role in the majority of his artistic endeavors. In late 1992, he dropped 'Gal sey yes', one of his earliest hits.
He also caused a ruckus in the dancehall circuit with 'Copper Shot', then teamed with Red Rose for 'Posey', which
also spun for months on end in dancehalls world wide. However, the tune wha really bus Bounti was 'Spy fi Die'
which was recorded on the Answer riddim. It was with this arsenal of hits that he'd begin his famous assualt on Beenie
Man at Reggae Sumfest in '93.<>
When Bounti Killa challenged Beenie Man at Sumfest, few realized that it would become one of the most intense
rivalries in dancehall history. In their early clashes, they cited each other as friends. 'a jus musical works' they would
insist. However, by the time Sting rolled around, it was clear the deejays had a severe dislike for one another. Their
war, which also included the great Ninja Man prompted others such as Capleton to question their true motivations. A
recurring theme has been Beenie Man calling Bounti a 'gun gun' deejay, while Bounti argues that Beenie is a pirate and
'wolf inna sheep's clothing' since he also has nuff gun lyrics.
Peeooople Dead!!! This became one of the most familiar phrases in the dancehall, and something Beenie and Bounti
have argued over at length. It fueled both the war and popularity of Bounti, as like Beenie, he found himself receiving
much adulation among the dancehall massive. Both seemed capable of dropping hit after hit, but Bounty's stage
presence has invited much criticism.
Subsequent to all 'di war' Bounti and Beenie Man signed a 'peace treaty' on early 1996 for the 'bettament a di people'.
They saw it necessary to bury the hatchet in order to avoid a confrontational ramifications between the fans. This
sparked a sigh a relieaf from the deejay community from likes such as Capleton who's aim is to see pure livity and unity
in the Dance Hall Fraternity..
