With the failure of the recent Brewster School levy in Washington State, and the rising cost of fuel, the local school district revised some of their bus routes. This, in turn, left school children walking to the bus stop and standing in rain, wind or snow until the bus arrives. The Masons of Hermanos del Arte Masonic Lodge #314, F. & A.M., in Brewster didn’t like the idea of the young children standing out in inclement weather and decided to build them several school bus shelters.

Mr. Eric Driessen, Principal of the Brewster Grade School was contacted and asked to provide locations where shelters would be the most effective. Permission was granted from the property owners and two shelters were erected, with a third shelter currently underway. The bus shelters were designed and fabricated by the Master of Hermanos del Arte Lodge for 2005-06, Albert "Stretch" Bledsoe. Assisting in the construction of the shelters was Stretch Bledsoe, Pete Hallenius, Treasurer, Clarence Weitman, Jr. Warden and Bill Wood.
