Loving Souls Of Childhood Cancer

TODAY
Outside my window,a new day I see
and only I can determine
what kind of day it will be.
It can be busy and sunny, laughing and gay,
or boring and cold, unhappy and grey.
My own state of mind is the determining key,
for I am the only person I let myself be.
I can be thoughtful and do all I can to help,
or be selfish and think just of myself.
I can enjoy what I do and make it seem fun,
or gripe and complain and make it
hard on someone.
I can be patient with those who may
not understand,
or belittle and hurt them as much as I can.
But I have faith in myself,
and believe what I say,
and I personally intend to make
the best of each day.
THIS IS A PICTURE OF MY SON MYKEL Before and After

This page is dedicated to my son Mykel. While we may have been lucky with him being diagnosed with one of the most curable types of cancer I know that some aren't so lucky. We found out that the lump Mykel had on his right arm was Hodgkin's Lymphoma on October 3rd 1997. This was two day after he had the lump removed. We were completely clueless. The doctors kept telling us that it was a non - cancerous lump. Mykel went through 6 months of chemotherapy. It took him a total of 7 months to get 6 months worth of treatment. There were a lot of hospital trips and admits that we begin to feel like we lived there. Thank god for the people who work there. Children's Hospital is the most wonderful Hospital I have ever been through. They have a way of making you feel at home and make u feel comfortable with leaving your child's life in their hands. My son has now been in remission since May 22nd 1998.
This page is being made so that others know that there is always someone here for them no matter how far away or what the problem is. I will do my best just to listen and help if I can. Anyone who has to deal with childhood cancer knows how hard it is to go through. This is a type of thing that effects everyone around u It changes a lot of things. I would like to help if I can. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me. Thank you for visiting Mykel's page.

This is an update on Mykel. He is now 13 yrs old and doing great. He had just finished the 6th grade and also races 1/4 midget cars on the weekends. He is now on his 6th season of that and he is loving it. The picture posted above is when  Mykels little brother Dylen was born. I will be posting a new picture of Mykel soon. Mykel now has 3 little brothers Nicholas 12, Kaleb 10 & Dylen 3 and a sister Maddisen 2. We are very proud of Mykel. He has been through alot and for the most part always keeps a good attitude.
