Taking a serious look at some of the various names of God, and the meanings of each one, is a powerful method we can use to come to a greater understanding of who God is and what He does.
I've found that spending time meditating on these names will not only greatly increase your understanding of our Lord, but can also become powerful prayer aids as well. I’ve noticed that bringing up scriptures, and/or names of God, are like reminding Him of His promises and putting our faith totally in HIS word and being. For instance, to meditate upon the presence of God, include the name Jehovah-shammah (which means "the Lord is present") in your prayer and also use James 4:8, "Draw near to the Lord and He will draw near to you." This method has really opened the doors for the manifestation of God’s mighty power in my prayers and I think you might find that it would do the same for you!
