Excerpts from Our Lady at Medjugorje

Mary: "I have come here, because there are many devout believers here. I have come to tell you that God exists, and He loves you. Let the others who do not see me, believe as you do."

Q: Do you have anything you want to say to the priests?
Mary: "Let then believe strongly and guard their faith."

Q: Can Dr. X touch you?
Mary: "Let her come forward; there will always be Judases who do not believe."

Q: Dear Lady, why don't you appear in the church so that everyone can see you?
Mary: "Blessed are they who have not seen and believe...."

Q: How long will you appear to us?
Mary: "As long as you wish."

Mary: "You have forgotten that with prayer and fasting you can ward off wars, suspend natural laws."

Mary: "I am the Blessed Virgin Mary. I came because there are many good believers here. I want to be with you, to convert and reconcile everyone."

Mary: "Peace, peace, peace, be reconciled with one another."

The seers asked the Virgin Mary to heal a 2 1/2 year old boy who was mute and unable to walk.
Mary: "Let his parents believe that he will be healed."

Mary: "I cannot heal; only God can. I need your prayers and sacrifices to help me. The only word I wish to say is 'conversion!' To the whole world. I am saying this to you to tell everybody. I ask only for conversion. Be ready for everything and be converted. Give up everything that goes against conversion."

On prayer and faith: 
Mary: "Let them (all who hear of Medjugorje) believe as if they see; believe firmly. There are many believers who do not pray; faith cannot be alive without prayer."

Q: Should we pray to Jesus or to Mary? : 
Mary: "Please pray to Jesus. I am His mother and I intercede for you with Him. But all prayer goes to Jesus. I will help. I will pray, but everything does not depend only on me. It depends also on your strength, the strength of those who pray."

Q: Why have you chosen to appear in Medjugorje?
Mary: "I have chosen this parish in a special way. I want to protect you and guide you in love. And therefore, I ask for a total conversion of the parish so that the pilgrims can find a fountain of conversion here."

Mary: "Raise your hands and open your hearts. Now, in the moment of the resurrection, Jesus wants to give you a particular gift. It is this: You will undergo trials with great ease. We will be nearby and will show you the way out if you will accept us. Don't say that the Holy Year is now over and there is no more need to pray. On the contrary, reinforce your prayers, because the Holy Year is just one step forward."

Jesus: "Receive my graces and tell the whole world there will be happiness only through Me"

On HELL and Purgatory:
Visionary: Souls who go to Hell have ceased thinking favorably of God - have cursed Him, more and more. So they've already become a part of Hell, and choose not to be delivered from it. There are levels in Purgatory: levels close to Hell and higher and higher toward Heaven. Most people think many souls are released from Purgatory into Heaven on All Saints Day, but most souls are taken into Heaven on Christmas Day. People in Hell do not pray at all; instead, they blame God for everything. In effect, they become one with that Hell and they get used to it. They rage against God, and they suffer, but they always refuse to pray to God. In Hell people hate Him even more.

Q: As for Purgatory, you say that souls who pray frequently are sometimes allowed to communicate, at least by messages, with people on earth, and that they receive the benefits of prayers said on earth?
Visionary: Yes. Prayers that are said on earth for souls who have not prayed for their salvation are applied to souls in Purgatory who pray for their salvation.

Q: Do many people go to Hell?
Visionary: Today, most people go to Purgatory, the next greatest number go to Hell, and only a few go directly to Heaven.

On Priests:
Visionary: Many people in our time judge their faith by their priests. If a priest is not holy, they conclude that there is no God. "You do not go to church to judge the priest, to examine his personal life. You go to church to pray and to hear the Word of God from the priest." This must be explained to the people, because many turn away from the faith because of priests.

On the Twentieth Century:
Visionary: Today, as it was a long time ago, God and the devil conversed, and the devil said that people believe in God only when life is good for them. When things turn bad, they cease to believe in God. Then people blame God or act as if He does not exist. God, therefore, allowed the devil one century in which to exercise an extended power over the world, and the devil chose the twentieth century. Today, as we can see all around us, everyone is dissatisfied; they cannot abide each other. Examples are the number of divorces and abortions. All this is the work of the devil.

Q: This behavior of people - they're under the influence of the devil. But the devil does not have to be in them?
Visionary: No, no. The devil is not in them, but they're under the influence of the devil, although he enters into some of them. To prevent this, people need communal prayer, family prayer most of all. Every family should have at least one sacred object in the house, and houses should be blessed regularly.

On Religion:
Visionary: Our Lady emphasized the failings of religious people, especially in small villages - for example, in Medjugorje, where there is separation from Serbians (i.e., Serbian Orthodox) and Moslems. This separation is not good. There is but one God, and that people have enforced unnatural separation. One cannot truly believe, be a true Christian, if he does not respect other religions as well. You do not really believe in God if you make fun of other religions.

Q: Where is the devil especially active today. Through whom or what does he manifest himself the most?
Visionary: Most of all through people of weak character, who are divided within themselves. Such people everywhere, and they are the easiest for the devil to enter. But he also enters the lives of strong believers - sisters, for example. He would rather "convert" real believers than nonbelievers.

Q: What about unbelievers?
Mary: "They should be prayed for, and they should pray. Let them convert while there is still time."

Q: Can we prepare ourselves for what will happen?
Visionary: The Madonna said people should prepare themselves spiritually, be ready, and not panic; be reconciled in their souls. They should be ready for the worst, to die tomorrow. They should accept God now so that they will not be afraid. They should accept God, and everything else. No one accepts death easily, but they can be at peace in their souls if they are believers. If they are committed to God, He will accept them.

Q: What is the greatest danger to mankind? What does it come from?
Visionary: godlessness. Nobody believes - hardly anybody. For example, the Madonna told me that the faith in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria is very weak. The people in those countries model themselves on their priests, and if the priests are not good examples, the people fall away and believe there is no God. When I was in Askona I heard of a priest to whom a rich man had left money to build a home for old people, but instead, the priest built a hotel. Now all the people in that city have turned their backs on the faith, because how could a priest not fulfill the last wish of a dying man and, instead, build a hotel and make money for himself? Nevertheless, people must understand that they shouldn't scrutinize a priest's private life, but listen to what he says through God - God's word.

Q: You were saddened by your mother's death, and because of that the Madonna came to comfort you?
Visionary: I don't know; but I don't think so. We asked her why, of all people, she appeared to us. She said she does not always seek out the best people. 

Q: To whom are the Madonna's messages sent?
Visionary: To the whole world. 

Q: What are the messages?
Visionary: Peace, conversion, fasting, penance, prayer.

Q: Why peace?
Visionary: When everyone in the world is at peace, everything is possible.

Q: How do you pray?
Visionary: When I get up in the morning I pray seven Our Fathers and the Credo. At noon, I pray the Angelus. In the evening, I pray  seven Our Fathers and the Credo, and sometimes the rosary. When we are all home together, we pray an evening prayer.

Q: It is known that the Madonna recommended that all you enter a convent.
Visionary: She told us it is her wish that we enter a convent - but only those who have such a wish. She does not want anyone to disgrace the faith and the Church.

Q: Will the “great sign” appear very soon or later?
Visionary: It will appear at the proper time.

Q: Ivanka, are you in any way fearful of being able to do what the Madonna expects you to do in this life?
Visionary: Why should I be afraid when God is with me? God gives me whatever strength I need.

Q: Can those who oppose the Madonna frustrate her plans in the world?
Visionary: No. All their armaments and explosives could not destroy it.

Q: Can they do harm to the souls of the people and to the Madonna’s plans for the people?
Visionary: No.

Q: Does that mean the Madonna is stronger than they?
Visionary: Normally she is. It is Jesus who decides - God. Not the Madonna. I think that God has sent her here. When we asked her for a sign, I think she asked Jesus and He gave her a sign. Then she promised to give us a sign.

Q: That means she cannot act independently on her own. She must do the will of God, as she always has.
Visionary: I believe so.

Q: It is important that people of good faith, regardless of denomination, not be turned against each other. But tell me more about this. What did the Madonna say about this?
Visionary: The Madonna said that the religions are separated in the earth, but the people of all religions are accepted by her Son.

Q: Does that mean that all people go to heaven?
Visionary: It depends on what they deserve.

Q: Yes, but many have never heard about Jesus.
Visionary: Jesus knows all about that; I don’t. The Madonna said, basically, religions are similar; but many people have separated themselves, because of religion, and become enemies of each other.

Father Sylvester Scotti: The Virgin Mary has messages for the western world too. We seem to think we’re better than the rest of the world. She talks about too much drugs and far too much television, which takes up so much of our time. We waste an awful lot of time that could be spent on better things. Also, we have too many religions in the United States; too many cults and worship of false gods, this sort of thing. Another thing: we have advanced far ahead of the rest of the world in technology and we seem to think we have done it on our own - that is, without the help of God. It’s man’s technology, so to speak. If you really want a perfect description of the way people of the western world are living today, you need only to pick up your Bible and read the first chapter of Romans, verses 18 through 32. It’s amazing that something written so many centuries ago can so perfectly fit our lifestyle today.

Mary: Thank you for coming when I called you. Those of you who love me have been specially called.

Visionary: Our Lady told me that God sent me this illness for a special purpose, and I accepted it.

Mary: Dear Children, today I am calling you to open yourselves more to God, so that He can work through you. For as much as you open yourselves, you will receive the fruits from it. I wish to call you again to prayer.

Mary: Dear Children, I wish to thank you for your sacrifices. And now, I invite you to the greatest sacrifice. The sacrifice of love. Without love, you are not able to accept me or my Son. Without love you cannot witness your impressions to others. That is why I invite you to begin to love the love in your hearts.

Mary: Dear Children, now, you are preoccupied about material things. In the material, you lost everything that God wants to grant to you. I am inviting you, dear children, to pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit that you need now in order that you may witness my presence here and everything I am giving you. Dear Children, abandon yourselves to me so that I can lead you totally. Do not be preoccupied about material things of the world.

Mary: Praise Jesus.

Mary: Dear Children, I would like to collaborate with you and at first I would like you to be apostles of the messages of peace, conciliation, prayer, fasting, and penance. I encourage everyone to live these messages for the changing of your lives.

Question: What do you expect of people?
Mary: Let them believe as if they too, see.

Visionary: She appeared as a slender young woman of about 20, wearing a gray gown and a white veil. Her complexion was fair, her hair jet black, and she had a voice more beautiful than any music they had ever heard.

To a blind woman with a 5 year old son suffering from Muscular Dystrophy:
Mary: You can be healed. Your son is not responsible for his affliction, but his suffering will be the salvation and conversion of many people. Do not ask for him; ask for yourself. Go to Medjugorje, and you will be healed.

Blind woman: My husband will not take me to Medjugorje.
Mary: Do you know anyone in this village that can pray for you?
Blind woman: No, they’ve all turned from God.
Mary: Nor do I. Go to Medjugorje.

A priest’s Summary of all the Blessed Mother’s messages at Medjugorje: When David confronted Goliath, God told him to take five stones and go in His name. Those stones are in your hands today, and Our Lady has told us what is written on each: prayer, fasting, confession, the Bible, and the Eucharist.

Visionary: Our Lady says that prayers are so powerful, they can stop wars. But before we can pray for peace in the world, we must have peace in our hearts and in our families. If we have peace in our hearts, then we can understand all the other messages that Our Lady gives us here.

Question: A lot of people out there were saying that this whole thing was a hoax - what did she have to say to those people?
Visionary: “I don’t have anything to say to those to them.” Our Lady once said. “You can pray for those people.”

Visionary: The main message from Our Lady are for prayer, fasting, penance, conversion and peace. She has asked us to pray the rosary. he wants us to fast one day a week on bread and water, and to have strong faith. She asks us to pray, but she asks us from day to day to open our hearts so that we can feel joy in our hearts, so that we think about every word we are praying. Our Lady says when you start to pray, you start with one Our Father, because our Father is like one big father who is in heaven. We have to get rid of the things that disturbs, and we have to give them to Our Savior and have Him lead us. Mary is like our mother, and she can see us with the eyes of God. Pray like this, and then it will not be hard for you to pray the rosary every day. You think when you are in trouble that God and Mary are far away from you, but that’s not true; they are always close to you. She asks us to give up some things, give up sins.... She says that Satan is strong now and wants to disturb us in everything. That’s why she asks us to put more into our prayers so that we can keep him far away from us....

Mary: Dear children, today I call you to live the messages which I have been giving you for the past eight years. This is a time of grace, and I desire that the grace of God be great for every single one of you. I am blessing you, and I love you with a special love. Thank you for responding to my call...
