Hi!

My full name is HERBERT M. GRÜNWALD.

I roam this planet since Febuary, 26th. 1973.

First of all: YES, this Mani guy really IS my twin brother.

Here is this band I play basses (5- and 4-string) and scream a little, as you really can´t call that sing.

On our demo-CD I also played some licks on Björn´s acustic and electric guitars. Unfortunately I´m not an octopus, so I can´t do that on stage...

My major influences: Hmmm, difficult. Certainly Flea and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage against the machine, and then bits and pieces from very different kinds of music ranging from parts of J.S. Bach´s violoncello suites to reggae music. Right now I keep listening to this Nu Metal stuff a lot (Limp Biskits, you know), older U2 songs (when they were really brilliant), REM, German Hip-Hop, world music (horrible word, well, anyway...), Bad Religion, Green Day... As you may see, I´m not fixed to any kind of sound.

My musical gadgets are (in order of appearance of sound):

  • a Yamaha 5-string bass (BB5N) or a Musicman Stringray bass guitar (yes, no Ernie Ball one, but the original. Some fool sold that dream !!! Lucky me!)
  • Ibanez TS9 tube screamer and BC10 stereo bass chorus
  • Laney G300 amp
  • Hughes and Kettner 4x10' bass box

Technique: Fingered, slapped or with a pick, depending on the sound I need.

History:

  • Learned playing bass aged 16 from D.D. Lowka (Mind Games, Quadro Nuevo...)
  • started in a band called "Nameless" (who did not?)
  • quite famous around Rosenheim's schools with FILS DE PUTE (together with Tom Federkiel: vox, keys; Stefan Frankenberger: drums, vox; Gaga: gits; Florian Rotter: sometimes git, vox): Hardcore and Funk. Guys, didn´t we have a good time?!! Special greeting to Tom!
  • then the short-lived project CAT BEATS DOG (U. Zermen: git, F. Heilmann: drums, S.Appeltauer: vox): kinda songwriter-funkrock or what-so-ever; strange rehearsal room in the cellar of an old industry building in Kolbermoor (organized by the MIR); in World War II already used as an air raid shelter as could be seen from drawings on the wall... Greetings to the former YERCRO guys!
  • in the crowd of RATHER JAZZID (Canglown: git, Ama: drums; Martin: alto and soprano sax; Didi: tenor sax; Tom: keyboards, Anja: vox): Rock-Jazz. Really tragical split-up of this group with the death of our drummer (leukemia); no more words...
  • finally entered MOTHERFUNKER (Wolf: vox, git; Chris: git, vox; Till: drums, Hans: sometimes sax): Funk. Cheers to all of you!!! We will keep our music alive!
  • this band eventually mutated to our WACKO TR!BE
That about all. See you!
