Minutes of SVT Youth Group Meeting   Place: 2/12 Everton Road, Strathfield                                                                  Date: 25//06/2002

The meeting started at 7.00 PM with Naresh reading out the agenda of the meeting and actions against last month’s meeting. The highlight was that last month’s clean-up day which was a success and the youth group contributed to the Sahasara Kalasa abishekam function on 9^th June.

 

Web site update

On the web page front it was suggested by Srini that a day could be fixed for getting any modifications done to the existing layout. Rao & Naresh felt that the temple committee should get back to us on linking the temple’s web site with that of the youth groups.

 

Ground rules for requesting Youth Group Assistance

On the clean up days for special occasions, Rao felt that there was no point in meeting the committee unless an action plan is developed by those responsible for the function. There was a lengthier discussion on the Ganesha Chaturthi festival, an important festival in the month of September. Rajesh who had sent his views on the same subject was read by Vasan. There was also a thought that the festival would have to span 2 days – 1 day for cultural & other purely for religious activities. Again, different associations have to be discussed & a plan has to be charted for the same. There was a need for perhaps a couple or more sub-committees within the main one each one concentrating on a special task. Finally it was decided that Rajesh & Naresh would meet the temple committee members with the ground action plan for clean up activities and discuss about the festival. The draft would be available by next clean up day on 6^th July  (1^st Saturday of month). Srini suggested that we could bring some volunteers from Wollongong Uni. It was also decided that we help Uncle Anandhan & his friends on special decorations for temple and occasionally on Sundays.

 

Other points covered:

 

·        Bala to bring some 50 badges for the Youth Group from India.

·        Vasan to bring a write up on the temple brochure by next months meeting.

·        Naresh would publish the monthly youth group newsletter this week.

·        Lalitha Sahasaranamam, which is the next month occasion in the Temple, would need some volunteers and the nature of work would be discussed on the clean up day, 6^th July.

·        Applications that would be available in the temple for notification of important events were updated with few changes to the layout & information.

 

The meeting ended around 8-15 PM.
