Firstly, I would like to take the time to talk about the general idea I have. Ever seen one of those planes able to take off and land in its own length. Now Imagine one that can take off and hover like a helicopter, fly like a jet, and even alter is aerodynamic shape and size through the effects of polarization in a solid dielectric and the surrounding fluid, air. All this for an extended undefined amount of time. This polarization (like in a Capacitor) at High Voltages produces a force in the direction of the positive electrode. Designing the correct electrode configuration to ensure this happens is tricky. The entire surface of a vehicle would have to be a High-K Dielectric. And there has to be a negative and a positive electrode to charge or polarize the dielectric. Following these rules its is relatively easy to produce thrust. This process of polarization is shown at the bottom of the picture below.

Below is the Xomite sample disk I requested. Any sharp angles on the electrodes or the dielectic will create a great loss in electrical charge, ushualy seen to the eye as a perplish-bluish light but it is called carona. Here is the design to meat this new specification by rounding everything to an angle that prevents this from happening.

ie. more overall energy retention and thrust within the dielectric.

The law of "opposites attract" states that two particles charged oppositely will attract each other { - --> + } ,inversely same charges would repel each other { + <--> + } { - <--> - }

Water (H20) is naturally polarized. "Rotation occurs only in polar molecules, or those with a permanent dipole moment like the water molecule shown in the diagram below."

But air and water are fluids and the molecules rotate instead of creating much or any force on the aircraft. There are methods of advanced propulsion in which a outer fluid is used as the dielectric for thrust (EHD, ElectroHydroDynamics), more about that later. But in a solid dielectric like a ceramic the atom's electron cloud actually stretches. The electrons are attracted towards the positive pole and repelled from the negative pole. This warps the atom, making it momentarily polarized. In this action the entire mass of the dielectric produces a gravitic thrust towards the positive pole, ie. propellentless propulsion! Pulsing the attracting of (e-) through the dielectric quickly may prove to be even better, I will see soon.

The negative electric flow caused by the attraction to the positive plate travels towards it and gets "stuck" in the dielectric. When these pockets of (e-) energy are in that posistion they can't get to the (p+). All the negative matter has potential and kenetic energy in the direction of the positive electrode. This is the conversion of electrical flow to kenetic energy of motion. The diagram of the warped atom at the top of this page shows what the polarized atoms now look like in any solid dielectric. The higher the voltage is the greater the warp. If the warp becomes too large for the dielectric to handle all that energy rips its way to the positive plate, ie. "breakdown".

This is the RC plane I am building to experiment with the electrogravitics concept... is the basic design for the first draft LC-90.

Here is shown the layout for the electrodes in the wing. (SIDE VIEW) A section in the back has been removed so the surface of the Xomite has less sharp angles, result: less carona build up. Basically there would be four +HV (Positive High Voltage) inputs points controlled by the user, each of these four electrodes is made out of three individual rods. These rods are charged successively in order to maintain the charging process, but not allowing the capacitor to become fully charged. ie. the wing (a large capacitor) won't ever get much over 90% charged. On the RC I'm building I won't be using this split electrode design because of its complexity, but will be experimenting with the idea.

Unlike the diagram above, this one is designed for the specific voltage rating of the particular electrode. Both of the forward electrodes are always on during flight. A charge of 150kv is shot into each. During the lifting electrode's charging process there can be anywhere from 0-300kv, depending on needed lift for each wing. Basically there is a potential charge of 300kv, if the switch for the left lifting electrode is on and not the right then all the 300kv goes into the right one. But if they are both on then the 300kv splits in two giving each 150kv. Very simple, very effective.

Here is the design for a Rotary Spark Gap (RSG) to switch 300kv (300,000 volts) between two electrodes at a time. If both A1 and A2 are being charged at the same time the 300kv is split between the two, 150kv each. Same with B1 and B2, but if only one of those two is being charged for turning it will recieve all 300kv. This is designed to keep lifting/rolling a constant force when applied, not jerky when transitioning from hover to roll.

In-between every fixed electrode on the RSG and the electrode on the wing will be a HV Relay Switch. Using a computer or a solid state circuit board I can switch these off and on to control which electrodes get charged every time the RSG electrodes line up and the "sparks" of high voltage jump across from the "flying" electrode side to the fixed electrode side.

An onboard CPU (Palm Pilot) might be able to calculate and perform maneuvering patterns that are too complex and too fast for a human brain to comprehend, but still controlled by the pilot. (Like R2-D2 off of star wars!) I know of a man who knows a lot about Hyper-Threading Processors. He may be able build up a Palm Pilot sized computer with this type of processor unit inside for a simulated Fly-By-Wire System. (“Do What I Mean” system)
