Hedda Gabler Summary
In the beginning of the play, Ms. Tesman rents her house to her nephew, George. He moves in with his new, somewhat snooty wife, Hedda. The couple had only just returned from their honeymoon. Hedda only marries Tesman because he is the only one who has proposed to her, and she is getting old. This results in a loveless marriage between the two. Of course, the status of he marriage affects her disposition. She is rude to everyone. She decides to end her life from fear of a scandal. The story ends after she shoots herself in the head.

Henrik Ibsen
Henrik Ibsen was born in Norway on March 20, 1828. Though he endured many hardships as a child and young adult, he still was able to develop his talent in writing. Later in his life, he left Norway because of the country's support of Scandanavian wars. Throughout his life he wrote many plays that were internationally successful, yet his plays always seem to somehow reflect his Northern European culture.
