Maple news from the maple capital of Vermont.
Who we are:
The Franklin County Maple Sugarmakers Association is made up of sugarmakers producing Vermont Maple products in Franklin County, Vermont, USA.
St. Albans--The new Royalty of the Vermont Maple Industry was crowned at the annual Vermont Maple Festival Banquet in St. Albans in April. They will make their first industry appearance at Vermont Maplerama in St. Albans in late July. The new Vermont Maple Queen has a long heritage in Franklin County maple production, she has several generations of sugarmakers before her. Elizabeth Trudell is the daughter of Garry & Eileen Trudell of Fairfield and the Grand Daughter of Robert and Virginia Howrigan of maple production fame in Fairfield. Elizabeth graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans in June and will attend the University of Vermont in the fall, as a Vermont Scholar.
Ryan Marsh, is going to be a senior at Lamoille Union High School in Jeffersonville in the fall. He is the son of Rick and Diane Marsh of Vermont Maple Outlet in Jeffersonville. He also is from a long line of maple producers in Lamoille County, six generations. He is very involved in the farming and retail outlet operations of the family.
Franklin County will be hosting Maplerama 2002.
