We are all saddened, shocked and angry at the Terrorist Attack on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 that has probably destroyed thousands of lives and took down the World Trade Centers' Twin Towers and did a tremendous amount of damage to the center of our nations security, the Pentagon. Words cannot ever begin to describe what must be going through the minds of the survivors of these incidents and/or the friends and families of those who have perished or are still missing. We must all come together as never before and stand up to the threat of terrorism. I have gotten alot of positive feedback about this website and the work that goes into making it work and I want to thank everyone who took the time to write such generous and kind words to me. VO WINS 2ND ANNUAL BOWL PICKEM CONTEST!!!!!!!!!
HELLO EVERYONE!!! Welcome to what is unfortunately the last update of the 2001 UNOFFICIAL WEEKLY COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKEM CONTEST. It was an incredible, wacky, unpredictable season for College Football, and I can't speak for anyone else but I know it was everything I thought it would be and more! Congratulations go to the
MIAMI HURRICANES for proving all their detractors wrong (and you know who you all are!) who said after the Boston College game especially that Nebraska was more deserving of being #1 than Miami was. Anyone still feel that way ? :-) Also CONGRATULATIONS to the
OREGON DUCKS for proving emphatically that they belonged in the Rose Bowl instead of Nebraska by trouncing the team that trounced Nebraska. I dunno if Oregon could have beaten Miami but those issues should be decided on the field , not by some Computer geek who knows nothing about Football whatsoever, as was proven by the computer rankings that were spit out all season long. Anyways, all in all it was a great season, and has already been a tumultuous off season with the coaching moves.
Now onto the more important things , like the RESULTS from the 2ND ANNUAL BOWL PICKEM CONTEST!!! Once again upsets were aplenty in this years Bowl Contest, though nowhere nearly as much as last years. This years contest winner was VO , who won the Contest outright with a 19-5 record. VO gets' 20 points towards the season ending Points Championship. Where does this place VO, who is a big ARIZONA STATE DESERT RATS fan, in the final points standings ? Well read on to the Season Points Section and find out! CONGRATULATIONS go to VO for winning the BOWL Contest, and he wins a Hat of the University of his choice.
The Contest was not decided until the Florida vs Maryland Orange Bowl game Wednesday Night. Florida winning gave VO the win over 2nd place HANKSTER , who took 2nd outright with an 18-6 record for his first points place finish this year! Hank is a PENN STATE NITTANY LION fan and gets 15 points for finishing 2nd. Congrats Hank!! Another player who made his first appearance in the Points for this season is our 3rd Place finisher, VT HOKIE , who was 1 of 3 players to finish with a 17-7 record and of the 3 was the closest in the Rose Bowl Tiebreaker game. VT is , if you have not already guessed, a VIRGINIA TECH HOKIE fan, and gets 12 points for placing in just his 2nd entered contest of the year! WTG Fellow Tech fan!! Fourth place went to another Tech fan, a TEXAS TECH RED RAIDER fan that is! WILDCAT also went 17-7 to take 4th place in the BOWL Contest and grab 9 points. Good job Neil! Fifth place went to former 2 time winner this season of the Weekly Pickem Contest VOLNATION ! VOL also was 17-7 and gets 6 pts for his 3rd Points finish of the year. Was it enough to make VOL the Season Points Champion ? We'll find out shortly. Congratulations to VOL who is an AUBURN TIGER fan. After the top 5 records , there was a 10 way logjam with the next best record at 16-8, and even after the Tiebreaker game 6th place remained tied. One of our 6th place finishers was the co-leader of the points race entering the Bowl contest , KYLEGOBRAVES . Kyle is a MIAMI HURRICANE fan and has to be ecstatic about their 5th National Championship in 19 years. I am sure Kyle is waiting to see if he claims the Pickem Championship as well! Be patient , ok?!! LOL. Kyle gets 3.5 pts for finishing in a tie for 6th place. Kyle tied with BROOKIE_EDGE , who is making her 2nd consecutive Points place finish of the year. Way to finish strong there Brookie! She also will get 3.5 pts for her 6th place finish. There was a 3 way tie for 8th place , so each person will get 1 pt a piece. First up is PAULGOVOLS , who is also making his 2nd consecutive Points finish to end the year. Paul is a TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER fan. WTG Paul! Also finishing tied for 8th place was yet another person making their 2nd straight Points finish to end the year. GMKOIAN is a huge OLE MISS REBEL fan who would have no doubt traded her point in for a Bowl invitation for her team this completed season. Finishing in a tie with them was WRASSINPENGUIN , making his 4th Points finish this year! Wrass is a big NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH fan who I am sure is expecting big things from Notre Dames' new coach next season. CONGRATS once again to VO for winning the Contest , and to all our Points finishers for the Bowl Contest! Also a very special and final THANK YOU to everyone who played not only this contest but any of the Weekly Pickem Contests this year. Not to mention all of the ones who were diehard enough to play all 14 contests this season, which an amazing 13 players did! 8 more played all but 1 contest this season, and we had about 450 total entries for the year! Hopefully we can shatter that record next year!

Season Points Champion DETERMINED!!
Well this is the section alot of you have been waiting for. Just WHO did win the Season Points Championship for the 2001 Season ? Well it was very close, and the winner was not decided until the Rose Bowl National Title Game between Miami and Nebraska, which is pretty fitting. When the game clock hit 0:00, rising up to win the 2001 UNOFFICIAL SEASON POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP was the Bowl Contest winner
VO !!! VO not only gets a hat of his choice for winning the Bowl contest but also gets a shirt of his choice by virtue of winning the season title! CONGRATULATIONS VO!! VO finished with 35 total points and won the contest by just 2.5 points over 2nd place
KYLEGOBRAVES , who finished with 32.5 pts. Kyle gets a small measure of revenge though as his team did win the National Title that night, plus Kyle edged out VO for most wins this year 109-108. Kyle also had the best Winning PCT of all players who participated in at least half the contests with his .712 winning percentage. Kyle just edged out
PUFFINSTUF for that honor, as she had an impressive .710 winning clip. Kyle also had the most Points place finishes this season with 5 times. Congratulations Kyle on an incredible season!!!! Had Nebraska won the Rose Bowl instead of Miami, your Season Points Champion would have been the person who ended up in 3rd place for the year.
VOLNATION ended up with 31 points this season. WTG RAY!! Finishing 4th place in the season points championship is
TIMFROMMA , who won 2 contests this season and finished with 29 pts. Tim was the only person to go 10-0 2 different times this year. Congrats TIM! Finishing 5th in the Season Points Championship was another 2 time winner this season.
BILL DOYLE was the only person to win consecutive Contests this year and places 5th with 27 total points. Well done Bill! Click
