The New England Young Writer's Conference takes place at Middlebury College's Breadloaf Campus in Ripton, VT for four days in mid-May. Students select either prose or poetry as their area of study and are placed in workshops with ten other students (give or take) and an author.
This conference was a great experience. In the two years I went my poets were Angela Patten and Cheryl Savageau, and I learned so much from them and the other kids in my class. NEYWC is open to students in grades 10 and 11 from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island. For more information, check out the NEYWC site.
