The Governor's Institute on the Arts is one of several summer institutes offered by the state of Vermont. The arts institute (referred to as GIA) occurs for two weeks on the campus of Castleton State College in Castleton, VT.
I attended GIA June 23 - July 8, 2001. I had the opportunity to take a slam poetry class with the wonderful and talented (no, I'm not just ego-pumping) slammer Geof Hewitt. I created some work that I really liked in these two weeks and it was an incredible experience.
